Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Dining Servicesto oversee the daily operations of our elegant and upscale country-club-style dining area for the beautiful community of The Bristal Assisted Living at Westbury.

In this essential support role, you will oversee operations of the dining room for use by both residents and team members. You must maintain a positive, upscale experience at all times and ensure residents receive prompt, courteous and efficient mealtime service. You will be responsible to schedule team members and lead all services required to ensure the dining room runs flawlessly.

Full-time schedule requires working one weekend day per week (Tuesday-Saturday 9Am-5:30pm).

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Hiring, training, scheduling, leading and, when necessary, terminating dining room team members
  • Assigning waiting and bussing teams to their stations on each shift
  • Assuring that all dining room systems are functional before, during and after meals
  • Overseeing food delivery, table satisfaction and bussing procedures
  • Greeting residents in a warm and friendly manner
  • Addressing complaints by residents and guests
  • Informing Director of Food Service of any complaints or concerns
  • Inspecting all dining room team members for proper uniforms, nametags and hairstyle
  • Preparing and giving monthly in-service support to dining room team members
  • Maintaining the utmost cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen areas assigned to waiting team
  • Filling in for the host/hostess when they are off duty
  • Supporting food service operations in Reflections and Recreation; conducting training and QA audits; ensuring proper handling and storing of food
  • Overseeing setup and breakdown of special events, action stations and theme buffets, including cleanliness and storage of equipment
  • Taking inventory, generating orders and maintaining par levels for dining linens, china, glass and silver
  • Supporting the dining room and performing hands-on service during times of emergency team member shortages
  • Executing other additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Food Service, Sous Chef and the Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • Must have previous experience in dining room management, FOH supervision and team member scheduling
  • Experience at a high-end restaurant or fine dining establishment with upscale clientele a plus
  • Strong ability to multitask and solve problems
  • Exceptional team building and leadership skills
  • ServSafe Certificate and Food Handlers Certificate a plus
