Job Description

St. Mary's Annapolis is seeking candidates for a Director of Development Our Director of Development will raise money for St. Mary's Parish and School. The DOD is responsible for organizing the fundraising efforts and solicitations for the annual fund, major/planned gifts, capital gifts, priority projects of the parish and/or schools and endowed gifts.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, manage and implement annual giving, tuition assistance and major gifts opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to prospect identification and research, cultivation, solicitation, gift processing, database management, acknowledgements and stewardship.
  • Identify potential major donors - individual (80%), corporate (5%) and foundation (15%). Cultivate and steward prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communication with them.
  • Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fund-raising drives.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of prospective donors.
  • Collaborate with capital campaigns and other major fundraising drive management.
  • Set priorities to meet annual goals in development.
  • Work to create and support a culture of philanthropy within the parish and schools.
  • Promote understanding, acceptance and support of the vision and mission statements and objectives of the parish and schools.
  • Assist with events within the advancement department - assisting in securing sponsors, event planning details, execution and more.
  • In coordination with the Events and Alumni Coordinator, identity fund raising opportunities to engage St. Mary's alumni in giving.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing discussions, but these two areas do not fall under the managerial purview of the Director of Development.
  • Work with the finance department on proper recording of donations/contributions.
  • Oversee grant project management.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of professional advancement experience in major gifts, campaigns or planned giving.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the values and mission of St. Mary's Parish and School
  • Superb interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Highly self-directed with an attention to detail
  • Demonstrates excellence in organization, managerial and communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally.
  • Minimal night and weekend required responsibilities.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred.

Pay Range $80,000 - $90,000, Annualized
