Job Description

Starting rate: $32.50 - $34.00/hour

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm

The Director of Day Habilitation Services is responsible for the administration and management of the Traditional, Autism and specialty Choices Day Habilitation programs at the Ashland location. They will ensure program models and supports are in place to meet the identified needs of individuals served while focusing on program development and fiscal solvency. The Director will ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing the program and implementing programs policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all principles related to the Advocates Way.
  • Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights Policy.
  • Ensure continuous quality management of individualized programs and services using both internal and community resources.
  • Integrate Quality of Life principles into individualized plans and program development.
  • Develop creative program ideas and alternative therapeutic activities that foster individual’s empowerment and program satisfaction.
  • Promote services through curriculum development and program activity schedules. Ensure all educational, recreational, and therapeutic supplies are available for programming.
  • Oversee participant referral, intake and discharge procedures, working directly with the IDT team.
  • Oversee the implementation and development of individual service plans, ISP’s and annual reviews to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with the plans. Attend annual reviews or program participant meetings as requested/needed.
  • Develop effective working partnerships and maintain open lines of communication with all referral sources to include, DDS, Masshealth, public schools, individuals supported, families, community programs and administrative team.
  • Provide and set a positive team atmosphere
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, professional development opportunities as well as training and support to all staff regarding job responsibilities, program development and services.
  • Coordinate and facilitate program staff, therapy/clinical meetings, client overview meetings and other meetings as required
  • Attend and actively participate in DS/BI division meetings and supervision.
  • Oversee and train staff teaching skills, assessment writing, behavior management, DHSP annual review/ISP, data collection and other case management responsibilities.
  • Serve as a member of the Day Program Management Team.
  • Work alongside the Operations Director to ensure all confidential files are complete, up-to-date and meet all applicable regulations.
  • Assess participant satisfaction through formal assessments and informal feedback. Ensure high-level customer service is maintained.
  • Assure compliance with all Masshealth and state regulations as they pertain to Day programs.
  • Maintain daily staffing ratios to ensure compliance with funding requirements and provide direct support coverage when required.
  • Assist in development and monitoring of all program budgets in accordance with program needs while maximizing all available internal and community resource.
  • Attend trainings as assigned; maintain necessary certifications (CPR, First Aid, Safety Care, HR/DPPC).
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures and in accordance with the Advocates Way philosophy.
  • Strictly follow all agency Performance Standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or a related field with at least five years of health-care experience, at a program for individuals with developmental disabilities and three years in a management role.
  • Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess strong computer knowledge and strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities,
  • Ability to execute a variety of decision-making models and to multi-task with frequently changing priorities.
  • High energy level, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
  • Must hold a valid drivers’ license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport consumers.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
