The Director of Data Intelligence will lead the combined Data Intelligence function within the Technology organization bringing together analytics engineering, business intelligence, reporting, dashboard delivery, data science, predictive modeling, and AI-enabled analytics into a single, coordinated team focused on transforming trusted company data into actionable insights and scalable analytics products.

The primary objective of this role is to strengthen the company’s ability to use data to improve business performance, decision-making, operational execution, customer experience, revenue management, marketing effectiveness, investment analysis, and enterprise planning. The Director will be responsible for creating alignment between data preparation, metric definition, analytical modeling, reporting output, and business insight generation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish a clear vision, operating model, roadmap, and delivery standards for Data Intelligence in alignment with Technology and business priorities
  • Partner with executive leadership and business stakeholders to identify high-value analytics opportunities, clarify business questions, define success measures, and translate needs into actionable data products
  • Oversee the development of reusable data assets, semantic models, curated datasets, dashboards, reports, analytical models, and self-service analytics capabilities
  • Drive consistency in business metrics, reporting definitions, data interpretation, analytical standards, and executive-facing performance measures
  • Lead report rationalization efforts, including evaluation of existing reports, dashboards, data sources, usage patterns, business value, migration needs, retirement candidates, consolidation opportunities, and Power BI modernization priorities
  • Provide leadership for SROA Dashboard strategy, ownership, roadmap, quality, adoption, maintenance, and alignment with enterprise reporting standards
  • Advance data science and advanced analytics use cases, including forecasting, predictive modeling, machine learning, AI-enabled analytics, optimization, segmentation, anomaly detection, and recommendation-oriented analytics
  • Support use cases across revenue management, operations, marketing, customer behavior, investment analysis, facility performance, and other business areas where analytics can improve decision-making
  • Partner with data engineering, application teams, infrastructure, security, vendors, and business owners to ensure analytical solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, governed, and aligned with enterprise architecture
  • Support the development and execution of a practical, non-invasive data governance strategy that improves data trust, accountability, ownership, quality, consistency, usability, and business participation
  • Manage prioritization, intake, backlog, delivery planning, stakeholder communication, and resource allocation for Data Intelligence initiatives
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning analytics engineering, BI development, reporting, dashboarding, data science, and AI-related analytics
  • Create clear communication for Technology and business leadership, including roadmap updates, status reporting, analytical findings, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and recommendations
  • Promote a culture of analytical rigor, business partnership, operational accountability, continuous improvement, documentation, knowledge sharing, and measurable business impact

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of progressive experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, data products, analytics engineering, data strategy, or related technology functions
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing analytics, BI, reporting, data science, data product, or related technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to combine business intelligence, analytics engineering, and data science capabilities into a cohesive delivery model
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, metric definition, semantic layers, reporting platforms, dashboard design, analytical standards, and self-service analytics enablement
  • Experience leading reporting modernization, dashboard delivery, report rationalization, or migration to scalable BI platforms such as Power BI
  • Working knowledge of data science concepts, predictive modeling, machine learning, AI-enabled analytics, model evaluation, and applied analytics use cases
  • Ability to translate business needs into analytical roadmaps, data products, models, dashboards, insights, and recommendations that drive measurable outcomes
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional business stakeholders to prioritize analytics investments and communicate findings clearly
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, including data ownership, stewardship, definitions, quality, lineage, accountability, and practical governance adoption
  • Experience with SQL, data visualization tools, cloud or enterprise data platforms, analytics development practices, and modern data lifecycle concepts
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, team leadership, problem-solving, prioritization, and change management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving, multi-site organization with competing priorities and high business expectations

Preferred:

  • Experience in self-storage, retail, real estate, property operations, revenue management, marketing analytics, investment analytics, or other multi-site operating environments
  • Experience with Power BI, Microsoft data tools, enterprise reporting infrastructure, data warehouses, data lakes, data marts, or analytics engineering frameworks
  • Experience with Python, R, machine learning platforms, AI tools, forecasting methods, optimization techniques, or advanced statistical modeling
  • Experience supporting systems or data migrations, particularly where reporting, dashboards, and metrics must be redesigned, consolidated, or transitioned
  • Experience building or maturing a data governance program without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Relevant certifications in analytics, data science, cloud data platforms, Power BI, data governance, product management, Agile, or leadership preferred
