Job Description

The Director of Corporate Partnerships handles top-tier account management and represents a higher leadership role with accompanying responsibilities for the greater Smith Entertainment Group revenue team. This role is crucial to finding unique ways to improve assets and improve the greater partner experience. This position must forge strong relationships on certain key accounts and may also be tasked to oversee, track sales efforts, and update leadership on progress during contract renewal periods. This Director must be proficient in regularly using positive communication, implementing creative solutions, and coordinating efforts with various departments throughout the organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fostering powerful relationships with top industry leaders representing Smith Entertainment Group corporate partners.
  • Host partners at game nights and other events.
  • Create unique and memorable experiences with each partner that is specific to their company’s goals and objectives.
  • Continually be an example to account managers of new and effective ways of doing business.
  • Oversee relationship and fulfillment of select partner accounts.
  • Support account managers in relationship and fulfillment of select partner accounts.
  • Lead account managers to hit organization and property targets.
  • Lead account managers in creating new and incremental revenue.
  • Work with VPs to help manage, train, and lead a diverse team of account managers – including staffing, training, business development, relationship management, negotiating, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Work with VPs to coordinate sales efforts across all Smith Entertainment Group properties.
  • Collaborate on inventory management with traffic department and inventory management specialists.
  • Collaborate on pricing strategies with inventory management specialists.
  • Support account managers to encourage cross-selling of all Smith Entertainment Group properties.
  • Collaborate with account management team, operations team and sales peers to create new and innovative inventory offerings and necessary sales materials.
  • Work across departments and with other department leadership groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience.
  • Proven experience in previous sales management positions.
  • Sports sponsorship, media, or equivalent sales experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and training skills.
  • Proven ability to work well across multiple departments within complex organizations.
  • Strong character and work ethic.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when required, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
  • This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.

About Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz is a professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are currently part of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in the NBA (National Basketball Association).

Originally located in New Orleans, Louisiana, the franchise began in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz and the18th professional basketball team to enter the NBA. Despite drawing well, the franchise struggled and was eventually moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1979 after just five years in the league. In 1985, Larry H. Miller became co-owner of the still struggling organization, and then a year later, purchased the remaining portion from Sam Battistone to become the sole owner.

The Jazz has since become one of the more successful teams in the league with frequent post-season playoff appearances, including consecutive appearances from 1984 to 2004, as well as two NBA Finals appearance in 1997 and 1998.
