Director of Convention Sales MICE - Malta

About the Role:

Our client, a prestigious 5-star hotel in Malta, seeks a highly motivated and results-oriented Director of Convention Sales to join their team. Reporting directly to the Group Director of Sales and Marketing, you will oversee all aspects of our client's conference and convention services, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maximizing revenue and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Leadership: Drive revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives, exceeding established group and convention booking targets.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team of conference and events professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key corporate clients, event planners, and travel agencies, providing exceptional service and exceeding their expectations.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of event operations, including planning, coordination, and execution of successful conferences and meetings.
  • Financial Performance: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure profitability and maximize revenue.
  • Market Expertise: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate and secure profitable contracts with clients, ensuring alignment with hotel policies and maximizing revenue.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of proven success in MICE within the hospitality industry.
  • Experience in an International, 5-star hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems, sales platforms (e.g., Cvent), and event management tools.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and exceeding guest expectations.
