Job Description

The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for the position of Director of Clinical Education/Clinical Coordinator in the Department of Health Science - Radiologic Technology Program.This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor. The program is delivered at Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center.

The Director of Clinical Education/Clinical Coordinator will report to the Chair of the Department of Health Science.

This position will oversee and coordinate clinical education in the Radiologic Technology Program:

  • Correlate and coordinate clinical education with didactic education and evaluating its effectiveness;

  • Ensure orientation to the program’s requirements of the personnel who supervise or instruct students at clinical, field, and capstone field internship sites;

  • Secure clinical rotation sites;

  • Support the Program Director to assure effective program operations;

  • Participate in the accreditation and assessment processes;

  • Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development;

  • Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress;

  • Travel to and visit clinical rotation sites.

The candidate hired for this position will also have responsibilities in teaching in areas of expertise within the Radiologic Technology and Health Science major curriculum, engaging in collaborative interdisciplinary scholarship, and engaging in service activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher)

  • Two (2) years of full-time clinical experience in radiography

  • Holds current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification

  • Holds current New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) licensure in radiography or be NYSDOH license eligible

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience serving as a clinical preceptor for radiography students

  • Experience as an instructor in a higher education program

  • Experience in curriculum development

  • ARRT certification – RT(MR)

  • ARRT certification – RT (CT)

  • Master’s Degree
