GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: United Digestive’s Director of Clinical Applications is responsible for leading the development, implementation, maintenance, and training needs of clinical applications across the organization. This role involves providing strategic direction, roadmap planning, and execution to ensure that all clinical applications meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and user satisfaction. The Director leads a high performing, engaged team that is continuously growing and evolving to meet the dynamic needs of the organization. Key responsibilities include aligning clinical application initiatives with organizational goals, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing the lifecycle of clinical applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Integration & Innovation

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing strategic direction for the department, aligning clinical application initiatives with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Leading the development and execution of a comprehensive roadmap for clinical applications, ensuring timely delivery of projects and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize clinical application needs, ensuring that solutions are innovative, effective, and user-centric.
  • Managing the lifecycle of clinical applications, from initial planning and development through to deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining the highest levels of data security and patient confidentiality.
  • Leading and mentoring a team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, growth, and excellence.
  • Works closely with the Business Development and Onboarding teams to track potential acquisitions and manage the implementation of onboarding to the enterprise clinical systems.
  • Works directly with physicians and clinical leadership to optimize EHR content and meet the changing needs of patient care.
  • Designs new and efficient EHR workflow solutions to support business needs, creates workflow documentation, training courses, and job aids for end users.
  • Supports best practices for efficient note documentation, accurate charge capture, elimination of patient care gaps, and clinical integration.
  • Responsible for the clinical applications training curriculum, course catalog, and schedule for new hires.
  • Manages application validation testing for clinical application upgrades and patches.
  • Collaborates with internal IT Network and Systems teams, as well as outside vendors, to complete product development projects and troubleshoot a wide range of technical issues.
  • Responsible for front-end maintenance and configuration of clinical applications.
  • Responsible for data reporting related to clinical applications, including, but not limited to MIPS.
  • Meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards as set by manager.
  • Abides by and promotes HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
  • Manage various vendors effectively.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Perform any other duties and special tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in related field required. At least 10+ years of related experience in IT or technology services with management responsibilities. 5+ years of healthcare experience, implementing and supporting EMR systems. Experience developing application training materials and leading application training programs; experience with governmental healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and MIPS. Experience with Microsoft Office, strong skills in Excel involving data analysis and pivot tables are required.

Director of Clinical Applications must have or be able to:

  • Interpret, apply, & maintain strict adherence to policies, procedures and government regulations
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.

  • Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks on time as delegated.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Travel, early morning, late evening, and weekend hours will be required as busines needs dictate.
