Description
The Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of St. John Bosco Child Development Center serving infants through preschoolers (6 weeks to 4 years). This role ensures compliance with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) child care licensing standards, promotes a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment, and oversees staff, curriculum, and parent relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the center including staffing, program development, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all programs meet Texas Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers.
- Oversee the applications of new families
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment consistent with child protection and safety regulations.
- Search out new hires to be approved by the owners
- Train, evaluate, and supervise staff, promoting professional development.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum focusing on early childhood development.
- Maintain accurate records, including children’s files, staff training, and attendance.
- Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and regulatory agencies
- Communicate regularly with owners and attend all CDC Advisory Board Meetings
- Propose annual budget to the CFO for approval
- Manage budget and resource allocation effectively.
- Ensure all staff have completed required training in child development, child protection, and safety.
- Lead emergency preparedness and response protocols.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
- At minimum, an Associate’s degree with coursework in child development and early childhood education may be acceptable if combined with experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare center, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or administrative role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Texas DFPS Minimum Standards for childcare centers and child development principles.
Training and Credentials:
- Completion of at least 45 clock hours of professional training related to child development, child protection, safety, and health, as required by Texas DFPS.
- Must present official transcripts verifying education and training hours.
- Valid certification in Pediatric CPR and First Aid required.
- Background check clearance in accordance with Texas DFPS requirements.
