Business Operations. People Leadership. Associate Experience.

This is not the traditional senior living business office role. And we are not looking for the traditional business office candidate.

At Artis Senior Living Lakeview, we are elevating the Director of Business Services position to play a much larger role in how our community operates, and how it feels to work here. Yes, you need to understand the fundamentals: technology, payroll, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reporting, compliance, and the details that keep a complex operation running well.

But that is only part of this job.

We are looking for a seasoned leader who can be a true partner to the Executive Director, a trusted resource to associates, and an influential member of the Lakeview leadership team. Someone who notices when communication is breaking down, who can help a manager work through a difficult associate issue, who understands that onboarding is more than completing paperwork, and who sees patterns in turnover, engagement, attendance, or morale and asks, “What is happening here, and what can we do about it?”

This role sits at the intersection of business operations, people leadership, and the associate experience.

Our Lakeview community is one of the largest in the Artis portfolio, creating a unique opportunity for a seasoned leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. While this role oversees all core business office operations including payroll, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, onboarding, and administrative functions, it also serves as a key partner to community leadership in supporting our associates, strengthening workplace culture, and fostering a positive employee experience.

If you enjoy balancing operational excellence with meaningful people leadership, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact on both the business and the culture of a thriving senior living community.

Why Lakeview?

Lakeview is located in the heart of Chicago! It is active, complex, fast-moving, and full of opportunity. That means we need a Director of Business Services who is comfortable being more than the person behind the business office door.

You will be expected to know the operation, know our associates, build credibility with department leaders, and have a visible presence throughout the community. You will work closely with the Executive Director while also having access to Artis corporate partners in Human Resources, Finance, Talent Acquisition, and other support functions.

What You'll Own

Business Operations

  • Lead the financial and administrative disciplines that keep Lakeview running effectively, including payroll administration, resident billing, accounts receivable and collections, accounts payable, reporting, records, compliance, and business office processes.
  • Accuracy matters. Deadlines matter. Follow-through matters.

Associate Experience

  • Become an accessible, trusted resource for associates and leaders.
  • You will help navigate associate questions, policy interpretation, workplace concerns, performance documentation, fact-finding, benefits and leave processes, and other day-to-day people matters, partnering with the Executive Director.
  • Just as importantly, we want you paying attention to the bigger picture.
  • Where are associates struggling? What are leaders hearing? Where are communication gaps developing? What could improve retention, engagement, accountability, or the new-hire experience?
  • We want someone who sees those signals and helps turn them into action.

Talent & Onboarding

  • Help create an organized, welcoming first day and a strong onboarding experience that sets new associates up for success; not simply checks the required boxes.

Concierge Leadership

  • Lead and develop our Concierge team and set the standard for the experience at the front of our community.
  • Residents, families, candidates, visitors, vendors, and associates all come through that front door. You will ensure the experience is professional, responsive, welcoming, and unmistakably Artis.

Who Will Thrive Here?

  • We are looking for someone with enough business-office experience to confidently own the operational side of the position, but who doesn't want to stop there.
  • You may come from senior living, healthcare, hospitality, Human Resources, or another complex service environment.

What You'll Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, along with at least five years of progressively responsible experience in business office administration, accounting, payroll, resident billing, office management, and human resources.
  • Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or another service-centered industry is required. Human Resources or employee-relations experience is strongly preferred, as is previous experience leading and developing a team.
  • Most importantly, you will bring the judgment, confidence, curiosity, and leadership presence required to become a trusted partner within one of Artis Senior Living's largest communities.

If you're looking for a traditional business office (payroll/accounting) position, this opportunity is not for you.

If you're ready to use your operational expertise to influence the business, develop people, strengthen culture, and shape the associate experience, we should talk.

Why Artis?

At Artis Senior Living, we are creating communities where residents can continue to live with purpose, dignity, and joy. We believe the same should be true for our associates.

When you join Artis, you'll become part of a leadership team that values collaboration, innovation, accountability, and genuine care for one another. You'll have the opportunity to make an impact, influence culture, develop people, and help shape the future of one of our most dynamic communities.

If you're an operational leader with a heart for people and a passion for creating exceptional associate experiences, we'd love to meet you.
