Our headquarters are located in San Francisco and we have additional offices in Knoxville, TN and New York City with employees working remotely in AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, LA, MA, MN, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA, WI All employees are required to have permanent residency in one of these states. Candidates based in the Bay Area, New York City, and Knoxville, Tennessee will be give priority consideration. For these locations, the position will follow a hybrid work model, with 3 days per week in office and the remaining days working from home.

Job Title: DIRECTOR OR SENIOR DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (REAL-WORLD DATA AND REAL-WORLD EVIDENCE)

Your Impact:

As the Director of Business Development, you will be a high-impact sales leader responsible for driving new revenue generation by securing large, multi-year Real-World Data agreements and Real-World Evidence (RWE) projects. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, you will serve as a principal individual contributor bringing an entrepreneurial "hunter" drive to build a high-growth book of business from the ground up. You will combine consultative selling skills with the executive presence necessary to navigate complex political dynamics within top-tier Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, and CRO organizations. By architecting data solutions that address critical research pain points, you will directly impact the rapid expansion and market leadership of Verana Health.

Your Core Focus:

• Revenue Generation & Lifecycle Management: Manage every facet of the sales lifecycle—from lead generation and prospecting through contract execution—to secure large-scale, multi-year RWE agreements and exceed annual revenue targets.
• Consultative Solutioning & Deal Execution: Partner with clients to understand their scientific goals and architect tailored, end-to-end data solutions. Lead high-stakes presentations, coordinate RFI/RFP responses, and develop high-quality proposals and Statements of Work (SOWs).
• Strategic Account & Executive Relationship Management: Build and nurture deep relationships with key decision-makers across assigned accounts, gaining critical visibility into organizational dynamics to position Verana as a trusted strategic partner.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal Product, Data, and Operations teams to maintain complete fluency in Verana’s product offerings and ensure seamless alignment from pre-sales through contract close.
• Pipeline Governance & Market Ambassadorship: Build and manage a rigorous personal sales funnel to provide executive leadership with accurate, data-driven forecasts while acting as an external brand champion at industry events.

Your Blueprint for Success:

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of professional sales experience specifically targeting Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, and CRO organizations.
• Demonstrated track record of success in meeting or exceeding quotas through the sale of complex technical solutions and data offerings.
• Deep knowledge of the Real-World Data (RWD) and Real-World Evidence (RWE) landscape, including its historical evolution, current trajectory, and future impact on medical research.
• Entrepreneurial "hunter" mentality with proven resilience and agility to build a large book of business in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Strong executive credibility and business acumen required to lead high-stakes meetings and navigate strategic account dynamics.
• Proven ability to problem-solve and architect customized solutions addressing critical customer pain points.

Any of these experiences would add value but are not essential for success:

• Established network of active contacts within RWE-focused departments at major Life Sciences companies.
• Prior experience delivering advanced, data-driven platforms that address condition-specific clinical research.

Salary Range: $147,054 - $183,818 (A geographic premium may be applied to base salary)
