We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Business Development Director to lead growth initiatives across our full continuum of addiction and behavioral health services. This leadership role is responsible for building high-value referral partnerships, expanding market presence, and driving consistent admissions. A major focus is penetrating unions and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), including proactively “kicking down doors,” opening new accounts, and establishing long-term relationships within these critical referral channels.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive business development strategy focused on unions, EAPs, healthcare partners, employers, and community organizations.
Drive aggressive market outreach through on-site visits, presentations, cold introductions, and persistent relationship-building.
Build, manage, and grow a strong referral network that consistently delivers qualified leads and admissions.
Oversee referral pipeline activity, performance metrics, and market data to inform strategy and ensure targets are achieved.
Collaborate with Admissions, Clinical, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to align outreach with organizational goals and program strengths.
Represent the organization at industry events, union meetings, conferences, and community engagements to strengthen brand awareness.
Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, emerging trends, and competitive threats within behavioral health and addiction treatment markets.
Ensure all outreach activities comply with ethical and regulatory standards governing healthcare marketing and referrals.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and structure to any business development staff as the department grows.
Qualifications
Proven track record in business development, outreach, or healthcare sales within addiction treatment, behavioral health, or a related sector.
Experience working with unions and EAPs strongly preferred, or demonstrated ability to successfully penetrate new, complex markets.
Strong history of generating new referral partnerships through persistent, strategic, high-impact outreach.
Ability to communicate persuasively with union leadership, HR executives, clinicians, and community partners.
Deep understanding of addiction treatment levels of care, referral pathways, and industry dynamics.
Self-driven, competitive, and comfortable operating in a performance-oriented environment.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel based on market needs.
