The Director of Brand & Communications is responsible for leading and strengthening EPE’s brand, voice, messaging, storytelling, and communications strategy across all internal and external audiences. This role oversees EPE’s creative, content, web site, internal communications, public relations (in conjunction with Marketing), and events functions and ensures that the company’s brand identity, employee communications, employer brand, market presence, executive visibility, and audience engagement efforts are consistent, compelling, and aligned with EPE’s business strategy.

This position will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for brand strategy, internal communications, external communications, content creation, thought leadership, employee engagement communications, executive communications, events, digital content, social media, web site, and employer brand support for talent acquisition. This role works closely with Marketing, Communications, and Proposals (MCP) leadership (including the VP, Marketing Directors, and the Proposals Director), Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, IT, and executive leadership to elevate EPE’s visibility, strengthen employee connection, and position the company as both a destination employer and partner of choice in the energy industry.
The ideal candidate is a strategic communications and brand leader who can balance creative excellence, message discipline, employee engagement, and business impact. This person must be able to translate complex technical work into clear, engaging stories for employees, candidates, clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
How you can make an impact:
Brand Strategy and Stewardship
- Lead the development, management, and evolution of EPE’s brand strategy, ensuring consistency across all internal and external channels.
- Serve as the primary steward of EPE’s brand identity, voice, tone, messaging, visual standards, and storytelling approach.
- Lead the elevation of executive team brand presence (thought leadership, event participation, social media, etc.) in the industry.
- Ensure brand execution reflects EPE’s technical expertise, culture, values, growth strategy, and position in the energy industry.
- Lead web site management and development efforts in support of marketing and communications teams
- Partner with senior leadership to align brand strategy with corporate priorities, business development goals, talent needs, and market opportunities.
- Develop and maintain brand guidelines, messaging frameworks, campaign standards, and creative quality expectations.
Creative, Content, and Communications Leadership
- Lead the creative and content team responsible for written, visual, digital, video, social, presentation, and campaign content.
- Oversee the development of high-quality content that supports thought leadership, market awareness, client engagement, employee engagement, recruiting, events, and executive visibility.
- Guide the creation of technical and industry content in partnership with subject matter experts and utilizing AI-enabled tools, ensuring complex topics are translated into clear, audience-appropriate messaging.
- Manage editorial planning, content calendars, campaign themes, and message consistency across channels.
- Ensure all creative and content deliverables are accurate, polished, on-brand, and aligned with business objectives.
Internal Communications and Employee Engagement
- Lead EPE’s internal communications strategy to help employees understand company priorities, business updates, cultural initiatives, leadership messages, and organizational changes.
- Partner with Human Resources, Learning & Development, executive leadership, and business unit leaders to support employee engagement, retention, culture-building, and change management communication efforts.
- Develop communication plans for major internal initiatives, including leadership announcements, organizational updates, employee programs, office openings, cultural campaigns, and company milestones.
- Strengthen the connection between employees and EPE’s mission, values, growth story, and role in the energy transition.
- Ensure internal messaging is clear, transparent, timely, and reflective of EPE’s global workforce.
Employer Brand and Talent Acquisition Support
- Lead EPE’s employer brand strategy in partnership with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition.
- Develop messaging, campaigns, content, and creative assets that position EPE as an employer of choice for engineers, technical professionals, business professionals, and emerging talent.
- Support recruiting campaigns through targeted content, social media, employee stories, career site messaging, job marketing, event materials, and candidate-facing communications.
- Ensure the employer brand reflects the authentic employee experience while supporting hiring goals, talent pipeline development, and workforce growth.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to create materials that improve candidate awareness, engagement, and conversion.
Events and Experiential Brand
- Oversee EPE’s events function, including industry conferences, owned events, client events, recruiting events, employee events, webinars, and executive speaking opportunities.
- Ensure events deliver a high-quality brand experience and support business development, market visibility, thought leadership, employee engagement, and recruiting objectives.
- Provide strategic direction on event messaging, audience experience, speaker preparation, visual identity, promotional strategy, and post-event content.
- Partner with business development, marketing, executive leadership, and technical teams to maximize the impact of EPE’s event investments.
- Establish event standards, planning processes, performance measures, and brand experience expectations.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of creative, content, communications, and events professionals.
- Establish clear goals, priorities, workflows, and performance expectations for the brand and communications team.
- Foster a collaborative, high-accountability, service-oriented team culture that balances creativity, strategy, responsiveness, and execution.
- Manage resources, budgets, vendors, freelancers, agencies, and production partners as needed.
- Build strong relationships across departments to ensure the brand and communications team is viewed as a strategic partner to the business.
KPI Measurement and Continuous Improvement
- Define and track performance metrics for brand awareness, content engagement, internal communications effectiveness, event impact, employer brand performance, and campaign results.
- Use data, feedback, and stakeholder input to improve messaging, creative output, channel strategy, and audience engagement.
- Provide regular reporting and insights to MCP leadership and key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen quality control, increase efficiency, and scale the brand and communications function as EPE grows.
