Director of Billing Operations

Location: Williamsburg

Compensation Range: $125,000 - $175,000

Team: 3 direct reports

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Billing Operations to take full ownership of billing and accounts receivable for a service-based organization.

This role is for someone who has led complex service billing, improved broken processes, and knows how to build structure, accountability, and automation around a billing operation.

What You'll Own

• Lead the billing and accounts receivable function.
• Manage and develop a team of three.
• Rebuild inefficient billing and AR workflows.
• Identify manual processes and implement appropriate automation.
• Establish clear procedures, ownership, KPIs, and accountability.
• Improve billing accuracy, timeliness, collections, and follow-through.
• Resolve complex billing issues involving customers, contracts, rates, and services performed.
• Partner closely with Operations and Finance to resolve discrepancies.
• Identify root causes behind recurring issues and implement permanent solutions.
• Create a billing operation that is efficient, measurable, and scalable.

What We're Looking For

• Strong leadership experience in billing and accounts receivable within a service-based company.
• Deep understanding of contract, hourly, recurring, and variable service billing.
• Proven experience improving or transforming billing/AR operations.
• Experience implementing process improvements, automation, and controls.
• Strong understanding of AR management, collections, and issue resolution.
• Ability to build KPIs and hold a team accountable to measurable outcomes.
• Strong judgment when resolving customer and operational billing disputes.
• Hands-on operator who can understand the details while improving the broader department.
• Yiddish Speaking Preferred
