Program and Role
Summary:
Wayfinder’s Davidson Program for Independence at the Los Angeles campus is a comprehensive residential rehabilitation program for adults ages 18 and older who are blind or visually impaired, many with recent vision loss. Participants learn assistive technology, orientation and mobility, braille, and independent living skills. Each client pursues individualized goals that lead to a confident transition to an independent life and education or employment.
The primary focus of the Director, Adult Services is overseeing and managing client cases and serving as the principal liaison between students, staff, and rehabilitation counselors. The incumbent must be familiar with each student's individualized service plan and ensure positive outcomes. Additionally, the position provides supervision and support to lead instructors in technology, Braille, independent living skills, and Orientation & Mobility. It also collaborates with the adult residential manager and director to ensure that educational and social opportunities are effectively addressed within the Davidson Program for Independence, Transition Services, Assistive Technology Training, OIB, and Employment Services programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participates in the development and implementation of goals, strategic initiatives, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned areas of responsibility.
Fosters a sense of belonging and demonstrates a commitment to a work environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and included.
Develops and executes policies and procedures and a system of accountability that tracks the quality of service, program budget, relevant documentation, and adherence to regulatory and contractual requirements.
Responsible for the development, oversight, and maintenance of the department’s budget.
Oversees and manages risk management and continuous quality improvement in assigned areas of responsibility. Promotes the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process by identifying quality indicators and opportunities for departmental and organizational process improvement.
Promotes a healthy organizational culture based on trust, respect, empowerment and accountability.
