Pomperaug Woods is recruiting a hospitality focused Health Center Activities Director to join our team! The Activities Director is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of varied activity programs designed to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Health Center residents.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of the Health Center Activities Director:
- Plans and coordinates activities: reality orientation, current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events, and one-to-one visits, as indicated.
- Prepares and distributes the monthly calendar.
- Attends Care Plan meetings.
- Assists with purchasing supplies for activities as needed.
- Distributes mail as needed.
- Performs and directs the movement of residents to and from recreational areas.
- Directs volunteer activities, enlists their support and coordinates their efforts; provides training and supervision of volunteers.
- Maintains accurate documentation of resident’s activity attendance.
- Has activities planned in their absence and has communicated activities to the DON and Nurse Supervisor on each respective shift and on days off.
- Works with Community Life Services Director to maximize budget for cross over entertainment and activities.
- Develops annual budget for activities and maintains expenditures within budget.
- Encourages residents to take an active part in the community and recreational programs.
- Assists residents in determining the level and quantity of activity.
- Prepares and maintains required reports, records, studies and surveys.
- Timely completion of the MDS activities section, activities assessments and activity notes.
- Coordinates and completes minutes and distributes minutes to the Administrator/Executive Director and other departments as needed.
- Keeps activities storage areas organized so others are able to locate activities/supplies if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Therapeutic Recreational Director certification
- Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting.
- Background in music, art, drama, and dance therapy preferred.
- Must read, write and speak English fluently.
