Employment: Full-Time | Permanent
Reports To: CEO
We're partnering confidentially with a fast-growing North American organization operating within a high-volume, marketplace-driven industry to hire a Director of Acquisitions
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to sell, close, coach, analyze performance, and take complete ownership of results
You won't be sitting on the sidelines managing reports.
You'll work directly alongside an acquisition team every day: reviewing performance, coaching calls, helping overcome objections, jumping into difficult conversations, improving messaging, and building the processes needed to consistently deliver results.
The mandate is straightforward: take ownership of the acquisition function and build a high-performing operation.
Lead the acquisition process from initial outreach through successful close
Personally step into high-value or difficult conversations when needed
Coach the team on cold calling, objection handling, negotiation, and closing
Identify opportunities to improve conversion and overall acquisition performance
Maintain a strong understanding of pipeline activity and daily production
Lead and develop a distributed acquisition/calling team
Coach team members through live situations and performance challenges
Set clear expectations and hold individuals accountable for results
Address underperformance directly and constructively
Create an environment where performance is measurable and accountability is clear
Monitor individual and team activity, conversion, and production
Understand why performance differs across team members rather than relying solely on high-level reporting
Identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities within the acquisition funnel
Translate performance data into specific coaching and operational actions
Build and improve acquisition processes rather than simply inheriting existing systems
Develop scripts, outreach strategies, workflows, and performance standards
Identify operational gaps and implement practical solutions
Create scalable processes that improve consistency and team productivity
Take increasing ownership of day-to-day acquisition decisions
Proven ability to cold call, sell, negotiate, and close
Experience leading a sales, business development, inside sales, acquisition, or high-volume outbound team
Strong track record of coaching and developing salespeople
Comfortable having difficult conversations around performance and accountability
Highly analytical and willing to dig into individual performance metrics
Strong commercial judgment and decision-making ability
Entrepreneurial mindset with a high degree of initiative
Ability to operate effectively with limited structure or hand-holding
Strong organizational skills with experience building processes and systems
Comfortable working directly with executive leadership
Sports, live entertainment, ticketing, e-commerce, marketplace, or secondary-market experience
Experience leading offshore or distributed teams
High-volume B2C or B2B outbound sales experience
Experience building or scaling an acquisition function
Familiarity with CRM, sales analytics, and performance-management tools
You're likely to succeed if you're someone who:
Wants ownership rather than layers of management
Will pick up the phone instead of telling someone else to do it
Enjoys coaching people and improving performance
Naturally digs into numbers when something doesn't make sense
Is comfortable making decisions without waiting for detailed instructions
Builds processes when processes don't exist
Takes personal accountability for the team's results
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a critical commercial function within a growing organization.
You'll have significant autonomy, direct exposure to the CEO, and the ability to shape how the acquisition team operates and scales.
If you're a hands-on sales leader who wants your performance and impact to be highly visible, we'd like to speak with you.
