Job Description
Westrock Coffee Company (the "Company" or "Westrock") is searching for an Accounting Director (the "Director"). The Director is responsible for overseeing the transactional and operational accounting functions of Westrock, serving as a key member of the accounting leadership team. Key responsibilities include managing accounts payable, cash application, and credit and collections functions, leading the monthly close process with a focus on identifying efficiencies to shorten the close cycle, overseeing SG&A general accounting, and administering the Company’s expense reporting and corporate credit card programs.
The Director will lead a team of accounting professionals across transactional and general accounting functions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. The Director should be adept at process improvement, cross-functional coordination, and identifying opportunities to drive greater accuracy and efficiency across the accounting cycle.
Effective communication with cross-functional partners and senior leadership is essential for the Director. This includes collaborating with Finance, HR, Operations, and other business partners to ensure accounting processes are scalable, well-controlled, and aligned with Company objectives. The Accounting Director reports to the Chief Accounting Officer of Westrock.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate key aspects of the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely completion of accounting activities in support of the consolidated close.
- Proactively identify and drive efficiencies in the close process with the goal of shortening the close cycle, including streamlining workflows, improving data quality, and reducing manual effort.
- Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices
- Manage the cash application team, ensuring timely and accurate application of customer payments and resolution of unapplied cash and customer deductions.
- Lead the credit and collections function, including establishing and maintaining credit policies, managing customer credit limits, and overseeing collections activities to optimize cash flow and minimize bad debt exposure.
- Oversee the general accounting for all SG&A functions, including journal entry preparation and review, accruals, and account analysis.
- Review and approve account reconciliations for areas within the Director’s scope of responsibility.
- Manage the Company’s expense reporting program, including oversight of the expense management platform, policy compliance, and timely reimbursement processing.
- Oversee the corporate credit card program, including card issuance, limit management, policy enforcement, and monthly reconciliation.
- Enforce and monitor compliance with Company-wide accounting policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively and build strong relationships throughout the organization, including ad-hoc training and guidance to business partners on accounting matters.
- Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance activities as they relate to areas of responsibility.
- Assist in the accumulation of support and documentation for financial audits.
- Some travel will be required, as the Director’s direct reports are not all based in the same office.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication
- Must be a team player and a solution provider
- 12+ years of related work experience in general corporate accounting, with significant experience in transactional accounting functions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA preferred
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and close cycle efficiency
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with NetSuite and Planful a plus
- Manufacturing or consumer goods industry experience a plus
