This position is a multifaceted role responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the university’s accessibility services, disability-related compliance, and targeted student success programs. The director will ensure university-wide adherence to disability law, direct the interactive accommodation process for students, and assist the Bobcat Trailblazer to Work program. This role is integral to fostering an inclusive, accessible, and supportive campus environment that promotes student success and retention.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Accommodations & Accessibility (30%)

  • Serve as the university’s primary contact for students with disabilities, conducting intake interviews and needs assessments to foster a supportive and welcoming environment.
  • Review psychoeducational, medical, and psychological documentation to determine eligibility for services and appropriate academic accommodations.
  • Develop and implement individualized accommodation plans for students in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Generate and distribute official accommodation letters to faculty and provide confidential guidance on effective implementation. Review of the Emotional Service Animal accommodations request.
  • Serve as a key resource and advocate for students with disabilities, liaising with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure equitable access to all university programs and activities.
  • Manage the logistics for academic accommodations, including coordinating exam proctoring, securing alternative format materials, and facilitating access to assistive technology.

Program Management & Development (25%)

  • Assist in the complete operational lifecycle of the Bobcat Trailblazer to Work program, including student recruitment, application processing, and orientation.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with local employers to develop meaningful internship and post-graduation employment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the university's Career Services office to align program goals and create a seamless support network for students.

Compliance & Policy (35%)

  • Develop, formally review, and update university policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with ADA, Section 504, the Fair Housing Act (FHA), and other relevant regulations.
  • Design and deliver training programs for faculty, staf, and students on disability awareness, universal design for learning, and legal obligations for providing an accessible educational experience.
  • Monitor the physical and digital accessibility of campus facilities, websites, and academic materials, and collaborate with IT and Facilities on remediation plans.

Administrative & Strategic Initiatives (10%)

  • Assist in writing and managing grants to secure external funding for accessibility initiatives and student support programs.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on departmental data to inform strategic planning, demonstrate program effectiveness, and support institutional accreditation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission.



Qualifications



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Special Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience working in disability services, accessibility, or student affairs within a higher education setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, HIPPA and other relevant disability legislation. Title IX certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, including development, implementation, and assessment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, faculty, staf, and external partners.
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Required to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred:

Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Exceptional Student Education or related field.
