The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology, The Director of Modern Workplace & Infrastructure Services is responsible for leading the organization’s end-user technology experience and core infrastructure operations. This role ensures seamless collaboration, productivity, and secure IT environments across the enterprise by managing modern workplace solutions, infrastructure services, vendor relationships, and compliance requirements globally.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute the vision for modern workplace technologies and infrastructure services aligned with business objectives.
Drive adoption of Microsoft 365 ecosystem and other collaboration tools to enhance employee productivity.
Oversee global IT operations, ensuring high availability and performance of infrastructure systems.
Operational Management
Own day-to-day operational support for end-user services, service desk, and infrastructure platforms.
Manage on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and connectivity.
Ensure compliance with RA and QA standards for all IT systems.
Team Leadership
Lead and develop a team of 3 that includes Manager, Modern Workplace, Manager, IT Operations and Storz & Bickel IT Manager
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Vendor & Partner Management
Manage relationships with international and local third-party vendors for infrastructure and workplace services.
Negotiate contracts, monitor SLAs, and ensure vendor performance aligns with organizational goals.
Financial & Governance
Manage budgets for infrastructure and workplace services.
Maintain licensing compliance with Microsoft and other enterprise platforms.
Security & Compliance
Ensure robust security practices across workplace technologies and infrastructure.
Implement governance frameworks for data protection and regulatory compliance.
Ensure adherence to SOX compliance requirements for IT controls, change management, and audit readiness.
Key Elements of RFR/RFP Process
Initiation & Business Readiness
Before issuing an RFP, ensure documented workflows and current state analysis are completed.
Secure sponsorship and budget approvals for the work. This is critical for governance and audit readiness.
Requirements Gathering
Collect requirements from all stakeholders to define scope clearly.
Include incremental needs for specialized business units (e.g., Medical vs. Recreational) to avoid gaps in solutioning. Vendor Engagement
Vendors should not send unsolicited proposals; proposals must follow the agreed process and require internal greenlight before submission.
Maintain structured communication and feedback loops to improve vendor performance and alignment.
Compliance & Governance
For IT-related RFPs, ensure alignment with SOX compliance and ICFR (Internal Controls over Financial Reporting) standards.
IT General Controls (ITGC) such as access provisioning, privileged access monitoring, and SOC report reviews are critical during vendor onboarding and system implementation
Documentation & Audit Trail
Document all steps in the process (requirements, evaluations, approvals) to support audit and regulatory compliance.
Use internal frameworks (e.g., ICFR Program Playbook) for consistency and risk management.
Qualifications & Experience
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Expertise in Microsoft 365, Exchange, and modern workplace technologies.
Deep understanding of infrastructure operations (servers, storage, networking).
Proven experience in vendor management and contract negotiations.
Ability to manage complex projects and global teams.
Knowledge of SOX compliance and IT audit processes.
Other Details
This is a full-time remote position based out of Ontario.
Salary Range: $140,000 - $150,000 CAD
