Job Description

Cardiometabolic Marketing Director, Emerging Markets

Location: Zurich

Ready to shape cardiometabolic strategy across the world’s most dynamic, fast-growing healthcare markets? Lead a high-impact regional marketing function, drive the future of obesity and diabetes care across Emerging Markets, and help accelerate access to breakthrough treatments for millions of patients.

Your new role

As EM Cardiometabolic Marketing Director, you will lead commercial strategy and marketing execution across the Emerging Markets region, spanning Latin America, Africa, Middle East and Central Asia. This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll drive business growth, oversee a rapidly expanding cardiometabolic portfolio—including Wegovy®, Ozempic®, and upcoming launches—and shape how millions of patients access life-changing treatments.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading commercial strategy and marketing execution to achieve ambitious sales targets and expand market presence across diverse emerging markets
  • Driving world-class product launches for the cardiometabolic franchise, including upcoming assets such as WegovyPill®, Cagrisema and Awiqly
  • Defining and implementing loss of exclusivity (LoE) strategy for injectable semaglutide, ensuring seamless transition planning across all markets
  • Prioritising the portfolio to pursue highest-value opportunities, balancing new product launches with lifecycle management initiatives
  • Leading consumerisation efforts in the obesity and weight management category, bringing innovative go-to-market approaches
  • Building and leading cross-functional teams across the region to drive innovation, best-practice adoption, and agile ways of working
  • Developing and managing budgets, setting operational targets, and monitoring performance metrics to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Representing the region externally with vendors and partners for congress planning and strategic collaborations

Your new department

As part of International Operations, you will join our largest operational unit. Covering 194 countries and 95% of the world's population, more than 18,000 of us work passionately to serve 35 million patients each day. With a promise to outperform the competition, we continue to be the growth driver for Novo Nordisk, and to improve health at scale across the globe.

Within International Operations, the Emerging Markets region represents one of our most exciting growth opportunities. You'll work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where innovation and strategic thinking drive real commercial impact. This role offers significant influence over regional strategy and the chance to shape how cardiometabolic care evolves across diverse markets with unique healthcare landscapes.

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for a strategic marketing leader with deep commercial expertise and proven success in driving business growth across complex, multi-market environments. You'll bring:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in sales or business management with multi-country or regional scope, ideally within emerging markets
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and delivering measurable business growth and performance improvements
  • Professional degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • Strong people leadership experience managing leaders and large, diverse teams across geographies and cultures
  • Hands-on experience from emerging markets and/or consumer marketing—understanding the nuances of these dynamic healthcare environments
  • Strategic mindset with business acumen including budgeting, resource allocation, and financial target setting
  • Excellence in stakeholder engagement with ability to build relationships across healthcare systems, public institutions, and internal partners
  • Change management capability to lead organisational transformation and implement scalable commercial solutions
  • Clear and effective communication skills with ability to convey complex strategy and decisions across all organisational levels
