Director, Lipids Science & Applications - Decatur, IL

The Research and Development Director for Lipids Science & Applications Team, North America is responsible for overseeing the research alignment and outcomes for NA Oil based ingredient research and applications support across multiple end uses including food and industrial sectors. They lead the efforts to innovate and improve products and processes, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with the North American Oils business goals alongside global R&D leaderships directives. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, managerial skills, and strategic thinking. The R&D Director will report to senior management and will play a critical role in the company's long-term success by ensuring that existing products are fully supported, applications have data to support sales, and science and technology is leading operations, quality and new product development.

Research and Development Director Responsibilities & Duties

• Lead and manage the R&D team to achieve project goals.
• Develop and implement R&D strategies in alignment with the company's objectives.
• Oversee the research and development of new products and improvements to existing products.
• Coordinate with other departments, such as marketing, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
• Ensure that R&D projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Establish and manage relationships with external research organizations and academic institutions.
• Monitor and report on the progress of ongoing R&D projects to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
• Develop and manage the R&D budget.

Research and Development Director Qualifications & Skills

• Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Engineering, Biotechnology, or Chemistry or and individual with 15+ years of in industry experience specific to fats and oils and who can exhibit technical expertise on the subject matter.
• 10+ years of experience in research and development, with managerial experience.
• Proven track record of successfully bringing new products to market.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Experience in managing large, cross-functional teams.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Ability to think strategically and align R&D efforts with business objectives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of the product development lifecycle.
• Proficiency in project management software.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong understanding of data analysis and research methodologies.
• Customer focus and centricity to fully support users of oils across development, quality, and industry perspective

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$161,400.00 - $300,700.00

Salaried Incentive Plan

The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a long-term incentive plan
