As a key member of the leadership team, the Director will provide strategic direction and operational stewardship to scale this national service for informal workers. The role blends high-level organisational leadership with systems strengthening, partnership development, and external engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Operations: Lead the overall strategy, growth, and day-to-day operations of the helpline.
Program Planning: Guide national expansion and ensure robust counselling protocols, workflows, and performance systems.
Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage multidisciplinary teams with a focus on capacity building, staff well-being, and professional development.
Partnership Building: Strengthen the response ecosystem by coordinating with labour organisations, civil society actors, and legal aid providers to support workers in distress.
Technology & Data: Oversee technology platforms and case management systems, ensuring data integrity and using insights to drive strategic decisions.
External Representation: Represent the initiative to government departments, donors, and media to build visibility and policy linkages.
Financial Stewardship: Manage donor relationships, reporting, compliance, and contribute to long-term resource mobilisation.
Required Qualifications & Experiences:
Education: Postgraduate qualification in Development Studies, Management, Law, Labour Policy, Counselling, or a related field.
Experience: 12–14 years of relevant professional experience, including leadership roles in rights-based or mission-driven organisations.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Communication: Strong engagement skills, particularly with donors and external stakeholders.
Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with technology and digital systems essential for managing a nationwide helpline.
Travel: Willingness to travel extensively to engage with state teams and partners.
Location: Based in Bangalore; familiarity with the local professional ecosystem is an advantage.
