The Service

KU Randwick-Coogee Preschool has a longstanding reputation within the local community, providing rich education and care tailored to each child’s needs in a family-focused and supportive environment. The preschool was established 67 years ago by a group of mothers who recognised the need for a preschool in the Randwick area.

KU Randwick-Coogee has a strong focus on school readiness, supporting children to develop independence, become confident and involved learners, communicate effectively and build a strong sense of identity.

The preschool operates during NSW school terms, Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 4:00pm, and is approved for 60 places.

The Role

Commencing from Term 1 2027, we are looking for an ECT-qualified Director with previous leadership experience to lead KU Randwick-Coogee on a permanent full-time basis, working 7.6 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

This is a unique opportunity to become the next leader of a well-established and highly regarded service, building on strong foundations while bringing your own leadership style, ideas and vision for the future. We’re looking for a passionate Director with a strong commitment to innovative pedagogy and practice, ready to inspire their team and lead the service into its next chapter.

This is a blended teaching and non-teaching Director role, with a generous Director’s allowance and dedicated time to work alongside educators and children to guide and support pedagogy and practice within a high-functioning team.

You will bring strong pedagogical knowledge and experience in developing and maintaining positive relationships with children, families and team members. You’ll also provide leadership across mentoring, rostering, daily operations and policy implementation, fostering a collaborative and harmonious working environment.

Candidates Require

• Australian working rights
• Previous Director Experience
• A current and valid NSW Working with Children Check
• An ACECQA recognised Early Childhood Teacher qualification
• A National Child Safety Training Certificate
• A completed training in Child Protection (CHCPRT025) and an understanding of the legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children
• First Aid and CPR Certificates
• Separate Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificates
• NESA Accreditation
• Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF)
• Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)
