What You'll Be Doing

As the Director, Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) Monitoring & Controls, you'll lead a team of professionals responsible for operating both formal and informal ITAM governance and risk controls for CIBC’s Technology organization. You’ll oversee the effective execution of ITAM controls for hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle, ensuring alignment with control frameworks, standards, and procedures. Your role involves collaborating with the ITAM Governance team to embed industry advancements, best practices, and continuous improvement opportunities into daily operations. You’ll ensure controls are designed, implemented, executed, and monitored effectively, reviewing and signing off on control execution. Your team will analyze data outputs and controls to identify key risks, insights, and recommendations for management review and decision-making. You’ll approve and validate mitigation plans for operational risks, deficiencies, and deviations, supporting annual control test cycles and audits. Through strong partnerships with key technology stakeholders, you’ll address control issues, discrepancies, and opportunities, driving innovation and excellence across CIBC.

How You'll Succeed

  • Lead ITAM Control Execution – Manage a team of professionals to operate ITAM governance and risk controls, ensuring effective execution for hardware and software assets.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement – Collaborate with the ITAM Governance team to embed industry advancements and best practices, optimizing daily operations.

  • Risk Analysis & Reporting – Analyze data outputs and controls to identify risks, provide insights, and make comprehensive recommendations to management and business leaders.

  • Mitigation & Compliance – Approve and validate mitigation plans for operational risks, deficiencies, and deviations, and support annual control test cycles and audits.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – Build and sustain relationships across technology and business units, negotiating and influencing opinions to address control issues and drive innovation.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate deep IT governance leadership and business consulting expertise. You’re an experienced IT governance leader with knowledge of IT risks and control frameworks, and control lifecycle processes, and have a track record of leading teams in complex environments. You’re skilled in risk and audit management, with a strong control and risk mindset, and the ability to design, implement, and monitor ITAM controls effectively. Certifications such as CRISC, CGRC, COSO, or similar are considered an asset.
