About Future Fund

At the Future Fund, we’re for future minds – like yours. The new investors and creators who thrive on different thinking and doing it together. Those who glimpse opportunity before it strikes and step up every day to grab it.

The Future Fund is Australia's Sovereign Wealth Fund, managing over $340 billion across seven public asset funds with the same purpose: growing Australia’s future. We are a global investor and work closely with world leading investment organisations to access the best investment ideas.

Where others see challenges, we see more interesting investment experiences. Every person, every skillset, every mindset is an asset. We’ve got every future generation to consider, yet our approach to investing is incredibly pure: we think about it deeply, and daily. Ours is a culture where great people grow the future together, with the rare ability to work collaboratively, think freely, and make a real difference.

Are you Futureminded? Let’s create what’s next.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a senior investment governance and risk leader to help shape how we oversee risk, governance and control across the investment lifecycle — and to strengthen how we support decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation.

This is an opportunity to step into a role that combines investment insight, governance thinking and independent challenge, working closely with our Investment team while bringing a Line Two perspective that helps us see risk clearly and act with confidence.

This role sits within the Line Two Risk function and operates as a trusted partner to Investments — someone who can influence, challenge and elevate how governance and risk are applied across the portfolio.

You’ll work at the intersection of:

  • Investment governance and decision-making

  • Risk oversight and calibration

  • Board visibility and insight

  • Control assurance across the investment lifecycle

A key focus will be designing and embedding a control assurance plan that brings clarity, transparency and confidence to how risk and governance operate in practice.

What you’ll do:

You’ll work with, and challenge, the Investment function to strengthen how we:

  • Apply governance across the end-to-end investment lifecycle

  • Define and operate delegations of authority and investment policy

  • Oversee and interpret portfolio stress testing and risk insights

  • Monitor and report risk, control effectiveness and deviations to senior stakeholders and the Board

  • Build and embed a control assurance approach that is practical, proportionate and aligned to our risk appetite

You’ll also play a key role in shaping the future of Line Two investment risk — contributing to team design, capability uplift and how we partner with Investments going forward.

About You

You’ll be someone who is as comfortable engaging with investors as you are thinking about governance, controls and risk frameworks.

We’re particularly interested in people who bring:

  • Experience in investment risk, investment governance or Line Two oversight in a complex investment environment

  • A strong understanding of the investment lifecycle — from decision-making through to execution, monitoring and reporting

  • Experience building or evolving control assurance, governance or risk frameworks

  • Exposure to Board or committee reporting, and an understanding of what decision-makers need to see

  • The ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders, balancing independence with pragmatism

  • Sound judgement — recognising what matters most and ensuring it is visible and understood

Ideal candidates could have experience working at superannuation funds, sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, consultants or regulators, but more important than where you’ve worked is how you think.

Please note this opportunity is open to Australian Citizens only

We Are For Everyone

At Future Fund, we are better for our differences. Every person, every skillset, every mindset is an asset. We want everyone to feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work. Which is why we’re looking for future minds like yours. Your past experiences help us expand our collective knowledge, add value and create something better. When doing your job means Australia has more money to invest in renewables, education, healthcare and medical breakthroughs – there’s a tangible impact to what we do. And we want you to be part of it.
