This role is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of risk within the Investment Banking, Securities, and Strategic Investments businesses. The incumbent will ensure adherence to the Bank’s risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and governance standards, while providing strategic risk insights to support informed decision-making. This position plays a key role in strengthening risk culture, balancing risk and return, and safeguarding the organisation.

Job Accountabilities

1. Risk Monitoring & Compliance

  • Oversee daily risk exposures across trading, underwriting, investment, and treasury activities
  • Ensure compliance with internal risk policies, limits, and regulatory requirements (BNM & Securities Commission)
  • Review and escalate risk breaches, exceptions, and irregularities in a timely manner
  • Identify emerging risks and strengthen proactive risk detection processes
  • Assess risks associated with new business strategies and ensure alignment with risk appetite

2. Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver accurate and timely risk reports to senior management, Board, and regulators
  • Analyse exposure trends, limit utilisation, and market developments
  • Present risk insights and recommendations to relevant governance forums

3. Governance, Frameworks & Methodology

  • Ensure robust risk governance standards and oversight across the organisation
  • Develop and enhance risk frameworks, methodologies, and control processes
  • Drive the implementation and adoption of risk management practices across business units

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Engage effectively with senior management and Board members on risk matters
  • Collaborate with front office, operations, finance, legal, and compliance teams
  • Provide advisory on risk implications for new products, transactions, and strategic initiatives

5. Stress Testing & Scenario Analysis

  • Lead and support stress-testing exercises and scenario analysis
  • Assess potential impacts under adverse market conditions
  • Recommend mitigation strategies and contingency plans based on findings

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in investment banking, market risk, credit risk, or treasury risk management.
  • Strong analytical capability with expertise in risk evaluation, reporting, and financial markets.
  • Deep understanding of BNM and Securities Commission Malaysia regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience interacting with senior management and governance committees.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex risk processes, and influence stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, PRM, or ACCA are highly advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in risk management systems, financial analytics, and data tools.
  • Experience in developing risk frameworks, models, and stress‑testing methodologies
