The Role

HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking is a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions for corporate, government and institutional clients. As Director, Infrastructure Finance, you’ll originate and execute financing transactions for HSBC’s infrastructure client base across China. You’ll set the agenda for how we cover infrastructure clients locally, partnering across regions to bring the full strength of HSBC’s platform to each opportunity. The role combines client coverage, transaction origination and hands-on execution across complex financing situations. It involves close partnership with internal teams across regions as well as external market participants. Success means building a strong pipeline, delivering high-quality deals end-to-end and supporting the team’s overall business plan.

What you'll be doing

• Develop deep understanding of relevant sectors and products to provide coverage and execution for infrastructure clients
• Originate and execute financing transactions for HSBC’s infrastructure client base across China
• Set direction on priority opportunities across the China infrastructure pipeline in line with the team’s business plan
• Oversee preparation and negotiation of key financial and project-related documentation including credit memos
• Create client marketing materials including pitch books, proposals, teaser documents and information
• Conduct industry and company-specific research to strengthen client dialogue and transaction outcomes
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and business units across regions to progress opportunities and deliver transactions
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to delivery of the team’s overall business plan

What we're looking for

• Bring substantial, hands-on deal execution experience in the Infrastructure and Project Finance market
• Demonstrate a proven track record delivering domestic and cross-border infrastructure advisory and financing transactions
• Apply strong understanding of financial markets including credit analysis, rating methodologies and credit metrics
• Interpret quantitative and qualitative information to support commercial decision-making across loans, bonds and derivatives
• Produce clear, high-quality written materials including credit memos and client-facing marketing content
• Manage multiple workstreams with strong organisational and project management capability
• Partner effectively with external stakeholders including consultants, legal counsel, ratings agencies and other market participants
• Communicate fluently in Mandarin and English
