As the Director, India Capability Center (ICC), you will champion CFA Institute’s technology operations in Pune. You will lead the operational model, talent strategy, and vendor governance frameworks that empower our engineering, data, and quality teams to deliver against enterprise-wide technology priorities.
The Director, ICC acts as the senior technology presence in Pune, leading multiple managers and platform-aligned teams while driving the operational health and delivery effectiveness of all India-based technology teams. This role executes the ICC strategy in close collaboration with US-based technology leadership, ensuring Pune talent is fully integrated into our global product and platform organizations. Balancing strategic ICC leadership with deep operational credibility, the Director partners closely with local country leadership on facilities, employee experience, and regulatory compliance.
Location: Pune, India (CFA Institute India Private Limited)
Reporting Line: Reports directly to the Director, Business Operations, CFAIIPL, with a matrix reporting line and functional feedback loop to the Senior Director, Quality Engineering (US).
Working Hours: Requires overlap with US business hours (typically 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM IST core hours).
Translate global enterprise strategy into a robust, Pune-specific operating model, defining governance cadences, delivery rhythms, and risk frameworks.
Shape ICC growth plans regarding headcount, capability expansion, and geographic footprint, advising global leadership on execution trade-offs.
Manage overall operational health, proactively monitoring delivery quality, capacity planning, cross-team dependencies, and attrition risks.
Own end-to-end vendor relationships in Pune, leading performance governance, commercial execution, and conflict resolution alongside Procurement and US leaders.
Conduct regular vendor business reviews to surface performance risks early and implement measurable corrective actions.
Lead the execution of right-to-hire conversion programs, driving optimized conversion timing, smooth onboarding logistics, and high long-term retention.
Define and execute the local recruitment, onboarding, and leveling strategies to build a high-performing engineering organization.
Stay personally engaged in senior hiring, talent development, and succession planning.
Foster a collaborative, high-accountability culture aligned with core enterprise values.
Coordinate across all platform portfolios with a Pune presence to remove delivery blockers and standardize operational excellence.
Partner with India Country Leadership on facility operations, employee experience, statutory requirements, and local regulatory/labor compliance.
Provide clear, transparent, and proactive dashboards and executive-level updates to US leadership regarding ICC health and strategic risks.
Experience: 12+ years in technology delivery, including 5+ years leading multi-layer, distributed engineering teams.
ICC Expertise: Direct, recent experience operating or building an India Capability Center or a large offshore delivery organization.
Vendor & Lifecycle Management: Proven track record of managing large-scale vendor performance and successfully executing right-to-hire programs with measurable retention.
Market Knowledge: Hands-on experience hiring and scaling engineering talent in the Pune (or comparable Tier-1 India) market.
Global Collaboration: Demonstrated success partnering with US-based leadership and working effectively across cross-cultural, matrixed environments.
Technical Fluency: Strong understanding across software engineering, data, cloud, and quality functions to remain highly credible with platform leaders.
Prior experience standing up a new India Capability Center from greenfield.
A strong, active network within Pune’s senior technology talent community.
Familiarity with global financial services or professional membership organizations.
Occasional travel (approximately 5–10%) to global CFA Institute offices.
