What You’ll Get To Do

The Director, HR Commercial is a strategic business partner to Commercial leadership (Sales, Inside Sales/Customer Success, Estimating/Pre-Construction, and Pricing) and a change leader for OBE’s transformation and growth agenda. This role designs and deploys the people strategy that enables profitable growth, sales effectiveness, organizational clarity, and talent readiness across commercial teams. The ideal leader brings deep experience leading organizational transformations and HR strategy and a proven track record partnering with customer facing business leaders and teams to drive value added outcomes.

  • Lead transformation & org design: Shape Commercial’s future-state organization (structures, spans/layers, operating mechanisms), aligning roles and capabilities to growth priorities; steward change management plans that build adoption and resilience.
  • Partner with Commercial leaders: Serve as primary HR advisor to Regional Sales, Inside Sales/Customer Success, Estimating/Pre-Construction, and Pricing leaders; translate business goals into people strategies that improve revenue, margin, and customer experience.
  • Talent strategy & workforce planning: Build succession pipelines for sales leadership; design career paths and competency models; drive hiring plans and onboarding that accelerate ramp time for sales and customer success roles.
  • Performance & culture: Embed performance culture (OKRs, sales enablement behaviors), manager effectiveness, and recognition programs that reinforce Commercial excellence.
  • Leadership development: Sponsor development programs (including high-potential and early-career pathways) tailored to Commercial; champion diverse slates and equitable advancement.
  • Rewards & job architecture alignment: Partner with Total Rewards/Compensation to align roles, job codes, bands, sales incentives, and pay transparency requirements; ensure consistency with OBE policies and UKG/Greenhouse integrations.
  • Employee relations & risk management: Guide complex ER matters, investigations, and escalations across distributed sites; coach leaders to resolve issues proactively and compliantly.
  • HR operations excellence: Drive process improvements across recruiting, onboarding, performance reviews, and HR systems for Commercial; optimize integrations (UKG ↔ Greenhouse) supporting clean data and reporting.
  • Stakeholder engagement & communications: Create clear, credible communications during change; facilitate leader roundtables and town halls; measure adoption and impact.

What We’re Looking For

  • 12+ years progressive HR experience, with 5+ years directly partnering with Commercial/Sales or Customer Success organizations (multi-region or multi-site).
  • Proven success leading enterprise or business-unit transformations (org design, change management, capability building), ideally within manufacturing/distribution or building products.
  • Demonstrated impact on sales effectiveness (e.g., talent strategy, incentives alignment, manager capability, performance mechanisms).
  • Strong business acumen and data fluency (workforce analytics, compensation/market data, sales performance metrics); skilled at converting insights into action.
  • Solid experience in a matrix, functionally organized enterprise with proven success partnering and delivering results within and outside direct reporting lines and functional groups in a positive and collaborative way.
  • Exceptional influence, executive communication, and stakeholder management; experienced coaching senior leaders through change.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR/Business (Master’s preferred); SHRM-SCP/SPHR a plus.
