Under the direction of the JMH President and CEO, the Director of Hospitality provides leadership and oversight of the many aspects that contribute to a favorable patient experience. The Director coordinates and provides administrative oversight to environmental services, food services, and patient experience. The Director oversees and is responsible for leading and ensuring that patient experience activities yield strong outcomes. As a member of the operation’s management team and guided by the values of Memorial Health System, the Director assists in deploying, evaluating and responding to the clinical, financial, human and business tactics required to achieve Jacksonville Memorial Hospital’s strategic goals. Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in hospital management.
  • Experience and understanding of business operations.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills required.
  • Knowledge of JCAHO, federal, state and local guidelines.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Must have strong relational skills.
  • Must be able to organize and execute events for the Hospital and Foundation which range from large events to fund raisers.

Responsibilities

  • Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards that support our mission, vision and values.
  • Provides administrative leadership to all patient experience activities; facilitates patient experience work group activities; shares results from vendor and otherwise facilities activities that yield strong patient experience outcomes.
  • Provides administrative support to the departments of Nutrition Services and Environmental Services, including budget development, facilities, equipment, staffing, policies and personnel issues.
  • Manage daily department operations to ensure efficiency and timeliness in provision of services by constant enforcement of inspecting agency standards.
  • Schedule appropriate personnel to ensure proper numbers and skill levels to handle the daily workload.
  • Perform personnel related functions for staff (as applicable) including but not limited to recruitment and selection, training, performance reviews, counseling, disciplining, and payroll.
  • Serve on committees to provide technical expertise and advice as needed.
  • Hold routine staff and in-services as needed to provide them with guidance and information to perform their duties.
  • Ensure that staff and volunteer members are practicing according to federal and state requirements.
  • Ensures departments are using quality / infection control measures and evidence based practice techniques.
  • Provide the necessary leadership and support that will remove obstacles and enable staff and volunteers to perform their work efficiently and effectively.
  • Promote and create community benefit opportunities and ensure follow thru with appropriate reporting and documentation.
  • Responsible for providing leadership, guidance and consultation to all departments / divisions within their scope of influence. In addition, participates in the development, communication, and achievement of strategic priorities for JMH, as a member of the Operations Management Team (OMT).
