The Role
We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on leader to oversee trading operations for Fidelity’s Hong Kong Equity Trading Desk. This role is central to ensuring seamless execution of international equities and foreign exchange (FX) trades across our global trading platforms. You’ll be the go-to expert for optimizing systems, reducing risk, and driving operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
You’ll work closely with traders, compliance, technology, and other internal teams to ensure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly—so our trading desks can focus on what they do best. Primary Responsibilities
Overseeing the daily activities of the equity and FX trading desks
Understanding unique requirements of various markets and implementing risk-reducing operational solutions
Ensuring that systems supporting the trading desks function correctly and accurately, promptly dealing with any issues alongside the Equity Management Team, Asset Management Technology, Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO), and other relevant parties
Supporting trading desks and spearheading trading desk projects alongside the Equity Trading Management Team
Responding to ad hoc inquiries from traders, portfolio managers, and analysts, including policy interpretations and trading desk protocols
Collaborating with Compliance on trade incidents, providing documentation and analysis, and implementing remediation for trading desk issues
Handling and supervising daily trading oversight reports and bringing up issues to Equity Trading Management in a timely manner
Collaborating with FMR technology, trading, and back-office to improve FX processes and manage foreign currency balance programs
Handling concerns related to trade and settlement issues
Implementing procedures to boost trading operations efficiency and lower risks
Leading all aspects of trading desks’ business continuity and disaster recovery plans
Liaising with support groups to ensure trading desk needs are met
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
You bring an outstanding blend of education, experience, and skills to this role.
BA/BS Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
8-10 years of operational expertise in equity and FX trading exposure
Proven experience in an oversight role of trading operations, particularly in Asian markets
Strong ethics and keen business insight
Strategic and tactical thinking capabilities
Highly developed risk management skills
