Leads the strategic planning, development, administration, and regulatory oversight of health occupations programming within Economic and Workforce Development and Continuing Education. Establishes long-term goals and priorities that align programs with college objectives, workforce needs, industry standards, and emerging healthcare trends. Provides leadership and oversight to ensure programs maintain compliance with applicable state, regional, national, accreditation, credentialing, and licensing requirements. Serves in required program leadership capacities and maintains professional credentials necessary to meet applicable regulatory requirements. Builds and maintains strong partnerships with healthcare employers, clinical partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen existing programs and identify opportunities for growth. Leads the development of innovative education and training programs that respond to regional healthcare workforce needs and expand pathways into healthcare careers. Provides leadership and supervision to departmental staff and program leads. Develops and manages the department’s budget and resources to support program quality, growth, and financial sustainability. Reports to the Vice President of Economic & Workforce Strategy and Community Partnerships and serves as a key member of the division’s leadership team.

Duties

  1. Leads the strategic development initiatives that enhance program effectiveness, foster innovation, and ensure alignment with industry standards and workforce needs.
  2. Oversees financial operations and budget management to ensure the department’s fiscal health and sustainability.
  3. Ensures that all programs meet accreditation and regulatory standards.
  4. Strategically identifies partnership opportunities that advance departmental goals, facilitate resource sharing, and promotes workforce development initiatives.
  5. Actively participates in division meetings and initiatives, contributing expertise and insights to enhance overall departmental effectiveness.
  6. Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  2. Five years of full-time or equivalent progressively responsible nursing, healthcare education, or related professional experience.
  3. Experience supervising staff, programs, or complex initiatives.
  4. Two years of full-time or equivalent administrative, program management, or leadership experience.
  5. Current active, unencumbered license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
  6. Ability to obtain required CPR certification within 6 – months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in nursing, allied health, healthcare administration, education, public health, workforce development, or a related field.
  2. Current or previous healthcare professional license or credential, including RN or another recognized allied health credential.
  3. Experience leading healthcare or health occupations education/training programs.
  4. Experience working in a community college, higher education, healthcare, or workforce development environment.
  5. Experience managing budgets and/or revenue-generating programs.
  6. Experience building partnerships with healthcare employers, clinical agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations.
  7. Higher education teaching or training experience.
  8. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation.

The total compensation for this position includes an 26.1% employer contribution to a defined pension plan, contributions towards medical and dental policies and fully funded life insurance / accidental death & dismemberment policy.
