Job Description

Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, the Director, Total Rewards and People Solutions will lead the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of global Total Rewards, including Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, HR Operations, and related capabilities. You will partner closely with Finance, Technology, Legal, and business leadership to ensure that compensation, benefits, HR systems, and people operations align with the organization’s strategic objectives and values.

This is a role requiring someone who can operate both strategically and tactically. Building scalable programs while also driving execution and operational excellence. This is a hybrid role with a mix of remote and in-office work, including three days per week at our Ann Arbor headquarters.

Total Rewards Strategy & Program Leadership:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of global Total Rewards programs, including compensation structures, salary benchmarking, annual incentive programs, sales incentive programs, benefits, and executive compensation

  • Ensure programs remain competitive, equitable, cost-effective, and aligned with the needs of a hybrid and global workforce
  • Preparing materials for the Board and HR Committee

Global Compensation and Payroll Management:

  • Monitor trends and regulatory changes impacting compensation and benefits programs

  • Oversee global payroll, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing across all regions
  • Partner with Finance and HR Business Partners on workforce planning, budgeting, and compensation modeling

Global Benefits:

  • Oversee the design and administration of global benefits programs, including health and wellness, retirement, and other employee benefits

  • Ensure benefits programs are competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with local regulations
  • Manage relationships with external benefits providers and consultants

Recognition Programs:

  • Develop and implement global recognition programs that align with the company’s culture and values

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of recognition programs and make improvements as needed

People Operations:

  • Provide leadership for People Operations, including employee lifecycle processes and workforce data integrity

  • Ensure effective utilization of HR technology platforms to support reporting, analytics, and operational controls
  • Provide leadership and oversight to Workday migration
  • Drive process improvements that enhance scalability, automation, employee experience, and data accuracy
  • Establish and maintain clear policies, controls, and escalation paths related to data privacy, compliance, and governance
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work through automation and AI-enabled solutions where appropriate

Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Total Reward professionals while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable culture

  • Build strong relationships across Finance, Technology, Legal, and HR Partners
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief People Officer on key insights, data trends, rewards, and operational strategy
  • 15-20 years of progressive HR leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; an advanced degree is preferred
  • Strong expertise in designing and executing global total rewards strategies
  • Experience managing compensation cycles, rewards programs, and operational process improvement
  • Demonstrated executive compensation experience and sales incentive plan design
  • Proven ability to connect strategy, systems, operations, and analytics into practical business solutions
  • Experience working in a matrixed, fast-paced, and global environment
  • Ability to deliver polished, executive-level presentations to C-suite leaders and Board members, effectively, distilling complex information into clear, strategic insights and influencing key business decisions
