The Health Care Compliance Leader forR&D,Clinical Research, Medical Affairs and Business Development is a global leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, design, and execution of an effective Health Care Compliance (HCC) program across Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, Research & Development, and Business Development activities worldwide, including mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.

This role reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer, serves as a member of the Health Care Compliance Leadership Team, and acts as a trusted strategic advisor to senior R&D, Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, and Business Development leaders. The role is accountable foridentifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance risks associated with innovation, external collaborations, and inorganic growth while enabling sound and compliant business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide global strategic leadership and direction for the Health Care Compliance program supporting Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, R&D, and Business Development activities, aligned to enterprise priorities and evolving risk profiles.

  • Partner closely with Business partners to design, implement, and continuously enhance a robust,riskbasedcompliance program covering clinical trials,investigator and site interactions, research collaborations, scientific exchange, licensing, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions.

  • Act as a trusted compliance partner and advisor to R&D,Clinical,Medical Affairs, and Business Development leaders, providing practical,forwardlookingadvice on novel business models, external collaborations, and strategic growth initiatives.

  • Drive consistency, simplification, and scalability of compliance approaches across all regions while ensuring adherence to applicable local regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Privacy, Quality, Finance, and other assurance functions to deliver integrated,enterpriselevelcompliance solutions.

  • Serve as the Health Care Compliance lead for Business Development, with responsibility forpreacquisitionandpreinvestmentcompliance due diligence for potential acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, and other strategic transactions.

  • Serve as a core member of the HCC Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise compliance strategy, operating model decisions, and major initiatives.

  • Partner with executive leadership and governance bodies to provide oversight, transparency, and accountability for compliance risks across R&D, Medical Affairs, and Business Development.

  • Collaborate withrespective stakeholders oncompliance risk assessments,identifyingtrends and emerging risks across Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, R&D, and Business Development, mitigationstrategiesandissue management.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required:Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Compliance, Finance, Healthcare Administration, ora relatedfield.

  • Preferred:Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Risk, or Ethics‑related)

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • Minimum10–12+ years of progressive experiencein healthcare compliance, legal, risk management, audit, or related fields.

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance laws, regulations, and enforcement practices

  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive compliant decision‑making in highly regulated environments.

  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and effective decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex compliance topics clearly.

Preferred:

  • Experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or broader life sciences industries.

  • Experienceoperatingin highly matrixed, multicultural organizations.

  • Strong change management and influencing capabilities.

  • Language:Fluency in English required

  • Travel:Up to 20–30%

  • Certifications:Compliance, legal, or ethics certificationspreferred but notrequired

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$150,000.00 - $258,750.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
• Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
• Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
• Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
• Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
• Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
• Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
• Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
• Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
• Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
