HarbourVest Partners is seeking a Director on the Fund Accounting & Administration team to oversee the accounting, financial reporting, valuation oversight, and operational administration of registered investment products organized under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Investment Company Act framework.
The Director will lead all aspects of daily NAV calculation and oversight, financial statement preparation, SEC reporting, fund administration oversight, and coordination with internal and external collaborators. This individual will serve as a key liaison with fund administrators, auditors, legal counsel, and fund boards to ensure the highest standards of financial reporting, valuation governance, regulatory compliance, and investor servicing.
Deep knowledge of US GAAP and its application to investment companies that are registered, including interval funds, tender offer funds, closed-end funds, BDCs, or other registered investment vehicles.
Extensive experience supervising daily NAV calculation, valuation processes, and fund accounting operations performed by third-party administrators.
Strong understanding of SEC reporting requirements, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, N-PORT, N-CEN, and other regulatory filings applicable to registered funds.
Experience working with fund boards, valuation committees, auditors, custodians, transfer agents, and fund administrators.
Proven leadership skills that enable building, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to independently handle multiple workstreams and critical reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage optimally across all levels of the organization.
Coordinate daily NAV production and review processes for regulated investment funds, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established valuation policies and procedures.
Manage relationships with third-party fund administrators and service providers responsible for fund accounting, transfer agency, custody, and shareholder servicing functions.
Review and approve daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting deliverables, including portfolio reconciliations, expense accruals, income recognition, and shareholder activity.
Coordinate and review SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, N-PORT, N-CEN, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
Prepare and present financial, operational, valuation, and compliance reporting materials to fund boards and board committees.
Lead valuation oversight activities, including review of fair value determinations and coordination with valuation committees and external valuation providers.
Partner with portfolio management, operations, legal, compliance, treasury, investor relations, and tax teams to support fund operations and critical initiatives.
Coordinate annual audits and regulatory examinations, serving as the primary contact for auditors and regulators.
Design, enhance, and monitor internal controls and operational procedures supporting financial reporting, NAV production, and regulatory compliance.
Evaluate and implement process improvements, technology solutions, and scalability initiatives across fund accounting and administration functions.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team dedicated to registered fund accounting and administration activities.
Support product launches, fund restructurings, and other strategic initiatives impacting registered investment vehicles.
Perform other responsibilities as required.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA strongly preferred.
10+ years of experience in fund accounting, fund administration, audit, or financial reporting within the asset management industry.
Experience supporting registered investment companies, including closed-end funds, BDCs, interval funds, or other SEC-registered products.
Demonstrated experience overseeing daily NAV processes and third-party fund administrators.
Base Salary Range:
$190,000.00 - $200,000.00

This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus, total compensation may include eligibility for long-term reward programs and a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement, health, insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
