We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Full Stack Engineer. In this role, you will serve as a hands‑on technical leader who will accelerate development velocity, drive architectural excellence, and modernize the enterprise engineering ecosystem. You will define technical direction while contributing directly to mission‑critical code and initiatives, working collaboratively with cross-functional partners to design and guide the development of both server-side and client-side applications within the platform group. The role requires a strong combination of strategic vision, technical depth, and hands‑on execution. This role will be based in Pune.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Engineering Leadership: Define and advance the long‑term architecture for distributed, enterprise‑scale systems, ensuring best practices and high-quality solutions.Oversee design across multiple domains, ensuring reliability, performance, security, and regulatory alignment. Present architecture designs to the Architecture Governance Board and communicate platform capabilities to stakeholders at various levels.
  • Hands‑On Engineering: Lead hands-on development efforts using Java (Spring Boot), drive modernization initiatives, contribute to platform scaling, rearchitecture, net-new builds, and transformational engineering programs. Deliver high‑quality code, rapid, working protypes, and reference implementations that set the bar for engineering excellence.Resolve complex engineering challenges, performance bottlenecks, and systemic inefficiencies. Provide solutions architecture and design guidance for clients and internal engineers using the platform’s products.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, platform, and business leaders to align technology strategy with enterprise objectives.Translate complex requirements into actionable roadmaps and guide delivery across engineering pods. Collaborate with architects across different platform groups to align on architectural standards and strategies
  • Engineering Excellence & Culture: Mentor and elevate adjacent engineers, fostering technical acumen, architectural thinking, and continuous improvement.Champion modern engineering practices, such as reactive/non-blocking programming and contract-first API design. Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies. Identify high‑impact opportunities and help steer enterprise technology strategy.Contribute to internal communities of practice, knowledge sharing, and talent development.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering with deep expertise in full‑stack development and proficiency in architecture.
  • Proficiency in Java, SQL, REST APIs, and Streaming APIs.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, containers, and microservices architecture.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL database technologies.
  • Experience with emerging technologies, including GenAI integration.
  • Fluency in performance, scalability, resiliency, and security tradeoffs.
  • Proven track record delivering large‑scale, high‑impact platforms in complex environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to articulate technical concepts to all audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and ability to influence across multiple teams.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $68,000 and $180,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
