Role Purpose:
The Role
StoneX is seeking a Director, Financial Crime Prevention Data, Analytics & AI to provide the technical capability needed to implement the Chief MLRO’s vision for a more data-driven FCP function. The role will in turn defined FCP ideas, priorities and use cases into live dashboards, integrated datasets, data-driven risk assessments and working AI-enabled solutions.
Working closely with the Chief MLRO and FCP Functional Heads, the Director will act as the senior technical practitioner responsible for solution design and implementation. They will apply advanced data engineering, analytics, coding and visualisation capability to personally build the dashboards, analytical tools, integrations and AI-enabled solutions required by FCP, replacing manual and spreadsheet-based approaches with reliable, scalable and auditable capabilities.
This is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor role for an accomplished technical practitioner and builder, not a programme or project-management role. The Director must be able to move independently from data discovery and coding through prototyping, deployment, adoption and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Digital Product Design and Delivery
- Translate FCP methodologies, controls and user needs into scalable, explainable and auditable digital products, functional designs, data requirements and decision logic.
- Build prototypes, proofs of concept and production-ready solutions, writing code and working directly with data rather than limiting the role to requirements definition or delivery oversight.
- Provide FCP design authority, challenge weak designs and measure whether delivered solutions improve risk management, controls, quality or operational performance.
- Data, Analytics and Management Information
- Artificial Intelligence and Automation
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish a coherent approach to FCP data and analytics across customer, transaction, screening, monitoring, control and operational data.
- Connect, reconcile and transform data from multiple source systems into trusted, reusable datasets and data models, with clear lineage, quality controls and ownership.
- Design, build, and maintain live, interactive FCP dashboards that provide timely views of risk exposure, control performance, operational outcomes and emerging trends, with transparent underlying data and drivers.
- Develop data-driven risk assessments, indicators and analytical methods that combine relevant internal data to identify risk concentrations, emerging patterns, control weaknesses and inefficiencies.
- Identify material data gaps and limitations, define technical requirements and work with data owners to resolve them.
- Translate the Chief MLRO’s AI vision, ideas and prioritised use cases into a practical technical delivery roadmap, architecture and implementation plan.
- Provide constructive technical challenge on feasibility, data, design, security, controls and scalability, while remaining accountable for converting agreed priorities into working solutions.
- Personally create, code and iterate AI-enabled tools, agents, automations and proofs of concept, using Claude Code and other appropriate development tools.
- Deploy and embed successful AI capabilities into FCP processes to improve risk identification, analysis, workflow, quality assurance and reporting while preserving accountable human judgement.
- Ensure AI-enabled capabilities have clear intended uses, controls, testing, documentation, monitoring and success measures.
- Act as FCP’s senior specialist for data, analytics, digital products and AI, advising the Chief MLRO and FCP leadership.
- Build effective cross-functional relationships and influence priorities and delivery without direct authority.
- Communicate complex technical and analytical matters clearly to senior, operational and technical audiences.
