Be Part of What’s Next
Help shape the financial future of some of the most iconic media brands in the world. This role sits at the center of transformation—redefining how finance drives clarity, speed, and smarter decision-making across Hearst Magazines.

About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)
Hearst Magazines is one of the world’s largest publishers of lifestyle content, with a portfolio of more than 30 iconic brands, including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Harper’s BAZAAR, Men’s Health, Popular Mechanics, and Town & Country. We reach millions of consumers across print, digital, video, and social platforms, delivering trusted, engaging content that informs and inspires.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and month-end financial oversight across multiple brands, departments, and cost centers
  • Partner with business leaders to translate financial insights into actionable decisions, providing both guidance and constructive challenge
  • Evaluate and vet budget and investment proposals, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and clear return on investment
  • Deliver variance analysis and forward-looking insights on cost drivers, headcount, and investment trade-offs
  • Collaborate closely with Accounting to ensure financial accuracy, validate accruals, and align planning with reported results
  • Drive automation and standardization of financial reporting to reduce cycle times and increase analytical capacity
  • Redesign and streamline FP&A processes to eliminate low-value work and improve team efficiency
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting expectations for rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement

Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)

  • 10+ years of experience in FP&A, operational finance, or a hybrid FP&A/accounting role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead business discussions with shared accountability
  • Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insights
  • Demonstrated success leading finance transformation initiatives, including process redesign, automation, or reporting standardization
  • Experience operating in matrixed environments and driving cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial concepts
  • Media, publishing, or digital content experience preferred
  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP systems preferred
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail and operational rigor
  • Based in New York City with a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week in-office

Benefits (What We Offer)

  • Work with the Best: Collaborate with top-tier professionals across media, advertising, tech, fashion, lifestyle, and publishing, shaping the future of these dynamic industries.
  • Grow Your Skills: Unlock your potential with access to innovative training programs, immersive workshops, and exclusive industry events.

  • Foster Connection & Belonging: Join our Employee Resource Groups and help create a welcoming workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.
  • Wellness First: Prioritize your well-being with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance from Day 1.
  • Plan for Your Financial Future: Enjoy competitive financial perks, including a 401(k) plan with a generous company match.

The base salary for this role is between $168,000 and $190,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
