We’rehiring a Director ofExperience Designwithin ourProduct Design and Manufacturing Solutions(PDMS)organization This person will lead experience design across Autodesk’s coremanufacturing,design,and data managementtools,supportingengineers and othermanufacturing professionalsacross design, manufacturing, and operations workflowsThisrolewill focus primarily oncontinuously shippedcloudandSaaS-basedsolutions,and it will focus on the convergence of solutions in the Autodesk Fusion Platform.

This leader will beplay a key role in evolvingourproducts and servicesfrom best-in-class applications into AI-first, agentic, and deeply integrated experiencesaligned with Autodesk’sManufacturingIndustry Cloud vision-both elevating the tools millions relyupontoday and re-imagining howmanufacturing companiesevolve over time.

This role issupportingour R&D center-of-excellence in Toronto,ON,CanadaWe support a hybridworkenvironment,with flexibleworking hours,andthe role can be basedwithin anhourdrive to Toronto.Travel requirements are approximately10%

Responsibilities

Vision & Strategy

  • Execute andchampion a multi-year user experience design vision for Autodesk’smanufacturingsolutions, grounded in real customer workflows and outcomes

  • Shape how AI-first and agentic experiences fundamentally changehow customers treat manufacturing processes—moving from feature-centric software to intelligent, proactive, and integrated systems

  • Establish a clear north-star for unification, modernization, and experience cohesion across products,solutionsand platforms

  • Partner with executive leadership to align experience strategy with Autodesk’sManufacturingIndustry Cloud and broader business strategy

AI-First & Agentic Experiences

  • Shape and drive the adoption ofagentic-AI, generative-AI, and AIcapabilities withAutodesk’smanufacturingsolutions

  • Lead the evolution ofmanufacturingdesignand make solutionsinto agent-powered experiences, including copilots, assistants, automation, and proactive workflows

  • Partner with AI/ML teams to integrate emerging agentic frameworks (reasoning, tool use, memory, orchestration) into real-worldmanufacturingworkflows

  • Ensure experiencesremaincohesive,trustworthy, transparent, and human-centered, even as autonomy increases

  • Coachteams on AI-augmented workflows bothfor Autodesk and our customers; AIisn’tjust what teams build –it’show they work

Design Systems, Platforms & Foundation

  • Drive experience consistency and scalability through design systems, shared patterns,critical user journeys,and foundational UX capabilities

  • Ensuremanufacturingdesign tools work as part of a cohesive ecosystem, not isolated products—across desktop, cloud, and connected services

  • Balance innovation with craft, usability, performance, and technical constraints in complex, mature products

  • Support the development and use of ourWeave design system and demandthoughtfuldesign for multiple form-factors and devices, with an eye for accessibility

Leadership & Organizational Excellence

  • Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing global team of user experienceprofessionals with broad skillsets,includingresearch andcontent design; developa level ofproficiencyacross these skillsets within each employee

  • Advocate for anddemonstratehow agentic experiences can beutilizedtooptimizeperformance and broaden skillsets; lean into innovative solutions and methodologies

  • Coach and develop senior design managers;establishclear charters, expectations, and growth paths, especially thosefocusing on role transformation through AI.

  • Foster a culture of customer empathy, experimentation, quality, and accountability at scale;encourage regular use of our own solutions and a culture of critique

  • Ensure operational excellence—clear prioritization, healthy team structures,sound decision-making,and strong execution rhythms

Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Product, Engineering, and Data Science professionals

  • Advocate relentlessly for customer-centered decision-making while balancing business and technical realities

  • Represent the voice of user experience design in executive forums and strategic planning

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of professional experience in user experience (UX), product design, or experience design, with 5+ years leading large, multi-layered teams or portfolios

  • Proven experience leading design at scale across complex, multi-product ecosystems

  • Demonstrated success driving large-scale experience unification and modernization efforts

  • Experience building or evolving AI-assisted or agentic product experiences

  • Deepexpertisein human-centered design, research, design systems, and design operations– includingthe incorporation of AI tools as a core competency

  • Strong executive communication skills—able to distill complexity and influence at all levels of the organizationand presenta clear point-of-view to senior leadership

  • Experience working in highly collaborative Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/orMaster’sdegree in interaction design, HCI, or a related field

  • Experience designing professional tools formanufacturingindustries, CADmodelingor highly technical enterprise domains

  • Experience designing multi-platform ecosystems (desktop, cloud, services); preference for experience in SaaS-based software systemswith AI capabilities

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $169,000 and $247,500. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
