Under the general direction of the SVP Southern Market, the Executive Director of Operations, NGMC Braselton & Oncology Service Line is responsible for the overall operations of NGMC Braselton and for creating a vision and strategic plan for the Oncology service line across Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS). The Executive Director promotes a culture of uncompromised safety, superior quality, memorable patient experiences, and financial stewardship that aligns with NGHS core values. Provides leadership and strategic direction to ensure achievement of established goals and objectives for NGMC Braselton and the Oncology service line. Assists in the coordination of clinical operations throughout the continuum of care; development of strategy and business decisions for the market; and contributes to meeting or exceeding yearly profit objectives and expense control. Works closely with external leaders within joint venture agreements and establishes annual plans and key performance indicators to demonstrate success across areas of responsibility. Contributes to the development of the physician manpower plan and annual strategic financial plan. Forms strong relationships with employed and aligned physician practices to optimize patient referrals and care coordination. Works directly with physicians, administrative leaders, and the NGMC Braselton leadership team to manage interdependence across the health system and maintain productive working relationships.
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: Masters Degree
Minimum Experience: Five or more years of progressive management/leadership experience in a hospital setting. Exhibits a thorough understanding of the healthcare environment, changes, and reimbursement methodology.

Provides regular reports and proposals to the senior leadership team for matters related to NGMC Braselton operations and the Oncology service line
Works closely with the presidents of each respective acute care hospital in developing clinical service offerings
Works closely with the senior leadership team on developing annual capital budgets and then prioritizing the allocation of those funds for highest and best use
Works closely with VP of Finance in developing annual capital budgets
Participates in the development of strategic plans for NGMC Braselton in response to NGHS strategy and the community’s developing needs
Develops a multi-year strategic plan for the Oncology service line with regular updates to the SVP Southern Market and other members of senior leadership
Seeks feedback from entity leaders and other senior leaders in developing priorities for the service line
Stays abreast of industry trends and uses those trends to inform strategic vision and plan
Collaborates with physicians in the development of the strategic plan
In collaboration with NGHS Finance Division, develops and manages operating and capital budgets for NGMC Braselton and the Oncology service line
Ensures NGMC Braselton operates within budget while maintaining a focus on programmatic growth of services to meet community needs
Evaluates financial performance of NGMC Braselton and the Oncology service line and implements measures to ensure optimal performance
Maintains understanding of productivity benchmarks and ongoing oversight to ensure productivity goals are being met
Develops multi-year capital budget and replacement plan, working closely with leadership from surgical services and other departments
Maintains professional financial discipline by conducting regular financial operating reviews with department leaders
Identifies variances, documents reasons for variances, and looks for offsets to budget variances
Proactively identifies opportunities to improve revenue and reduce expenses by optimizing value
Provides leadership to NGMC Braselton to establish and maintain an environment focused on safety for patients, staff, physicians, and visitors
Focuses on achieving top decile patient experiences
Creates process improvements that deliver exceptional care and service
Oversees medical director job descriptions and is responsible for overseeing performance of medical directors within areas of responsibility
Reviews monthly medical director timesheets to ensure accuracy and optimization of value for services
Develops strategies to maintain engagement with medical directors, including regular meetings
Serves as the management liaison with medical staff regarding concerns, issues, and questions pertaining to the operations of NGMC Braselton or affiliated entities
Maintains high levels of employee engagement among all direct reports and departments
Provides regular feedback on performance of leaders who are direct reports
Completes employee evaluations and engages direct reports in professional goal development
Works with individual department leaders at NGMC Braselton and the Oncology service line to review performance, strengths, and development opportunities and provides coaching and mentoring as needed
Maintains a high level of knowledge for healthcare regulation including CMS, CoC, ACS, and DNV
If determined to be an organizational priority, oversees pursuit of relevant centers of excellence
Works closely with finance and compliance on any audits or other regulatory activities
Has ultimate responsibility to develop, approve, and oversee hospital policies governing areas of responsibility
Oversees and ensures achievement of various accreditations for Oncology to include CoC, APEX, and NAPBC
Oversees daily management system deployment for respective areas of responsibility
Ensures management team is attending offered courses in Quest for Excellence
Follows up regularly with leaders to reinforce the importance of LEAN leadership principles
Maintains high proficiency in Quest for Excellence in order to serve as a LEAN coach for respective management staff
Creates a vision and strategic plan for oncology services across NGHS
Works collaboratively with the SVP Southern Market, VP of Regional Hospitals, and other senior leaders on the development of a strategic plan for oncology
Establishes annual plans and key performance indicators to demonstrate success of the Oncology service line
Forms strong relationships with employed and aligned physician practices to optimize patient referrals and care coordination for oncology patients
Serves as the NGMC Braselton representative at external functions on community Boards, advisory panels, and/or committees of various health related agencies as appropriate
