The Job / What You'll Do:

The Director, Event Management, is responsible for leading AssetMark's enterprise events function, overseeing the entire event portfolio, planning framework, operational processes, and execution standards for marquee, series events, and sponsored events. This leader develops and empowers a high-performing team while ensuring every event delivers an exceptional experience aligned with business objectives and brand standards. Success in this role requires exceptional cross-functional leadership, particularly through close partnership with Creative, Marketing, Sales, Product, Executive Leadership, Finance, and Procurement.

The Director, Event Management, establishes scalable processes, drives event portfolio planning, oversees event budgets, and creates operational consistency across all events while enabling the Event Experience team to execute at the highest level.

This role fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring AssetMark's events continue to strengthen advisor relationships and elevate the company's brand.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Operational Excellence:

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of event leads
• Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability across the team while fostering collaboration and continuous learning
• Lead portfolio prioritization and resource planning across the event calendar, balancing team capacity, business priorities, and event complexity to ensure successful execution of all initiatives
• In conjunction with the Director of Brand Operations, create standardized processes, templates, project plans, and operating rhythms that improve efficiency and execution quality
• Drive strong project management discipline across all events, ensuring milestones, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications remain aligned
• Continuously improve team operations through retrospective reviews, process optimization, and knowledge sharing

Cross-Functional Partnership:

• Partner closely with the Senior Director, Experience Design, and the larger Creative team to align event strategy, attendee experience, brand expression, messaging, and environmental design across the event portfolio
• Build strong relationships with Marketing, Sales, Finance, Executive Leadership, and other business partners to ensure events support enterprise priorities
• Facilitate alignment between event team members and cross-functional stakeholders through clear planning processes, decision-making frameworks, and communication cadence

Budget & Portfolio Management:

• Own the annual corporate events budget across marquee, series, and sponsored events
• Develop and maintain comprehensive budget planning, forecasting, tracking, and reporting processes in partnership with Finance and Procurement
• Monitor event investments, identify opportunities for cost optimization, negotiate efficiencies, and maximize return on investment
• Establish portfolio-level reporting that measures event performance, attendee outcomes, budget utilization, and business impact.

Vendor & Partner Management:

• Develop strategic relationships with agencies, production partners, venues, and key vendors
• In conjunction with the Senior Director, Experience Design, evaluate vendor selection, contract strategy, and partner performance to ensure quality, consistency, and value across the events portfolio.
• Collaborate with Procurement to optimize sourcing strategies and vendor partnerships

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Demonstrated experience leading an enterprise corporate events function and managing a diverse portfolio of large-scale events
• Proven ability to build scalable operational processes and lead organizational change
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar event budgets, forecasting, and portfolio reporting
• Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct authority
• Experience partnering closely with the Brand team to deliver cohesive attendee experiences
• Executive presence with outstanding communication and presentation skills
• Data-driven decision-maker who uses event metrics and business outcomes to guide continuous improvement
• Strong negotiation and vendor management experience
• Experience with project management platforms (Wrike or similar) and CRM/event technologies

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
• 10+ years of progressive experience leading corporate events, experiential marketing, or event operations
• 5+ years of experience leading and developing high-performing teams
• Experience managing enterprise event portfolios, including marquee conferences, executive meetings, and sponsored industry events
• Experience managing complex budgets and partnering with Finance and Procurement
• Financial services experience preferred
• CMP certification preferred
• Active participation in industry associations is a plus
• Approximately 30% travel is required to support key events throughout the year

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $130,000-$150,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
