Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Director, Enterprise Data Steward – Master Data Governance to lead the global data stewardship and governance function at Fresenius Kabi. In this pivotal role, you will shape and implement enterprise-wide governance standards, ensuring that our master data is consistent, accurate, secure, and fit for business use.

Acting as a key interface between business and IT, you will be responsible for translating complex governance requirements into practical data quality processes, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will also lead a distributed team of global and regional data stewards, with a strong focus on cross-functional collaboration and process harmonization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead enterprise-wide master data governance within defined data domains (e.g., product, customer, supplier, material)

  • Collaborate with global, regional, and local Data Stewards as well as business stakeholders to ensure alignment on data quality and governance priorities

  • Define, implement, and monitor global data governance policies, standards, and best practices

  • Analyze data quality reports, identify anomalies, and lead corrective and preventive actions

  • Support enterprise projects involving data migration, system integration, or master data transformation

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, training materials, and work instructions related to data stewardship and governance

  • Promote continuous improvement of master data processes and overall governance maturity

  • Drive the development and adoption of metadata standards and master data management (MDM) strategies across systems and regions

  • Evaluate and guide the implementation of tools that support data lineage, stewardship, and policy enforcement

  • Partner with IT and business functions to integrate governance into data platforms and processes

  • Recommend enhancements based on data trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices

  • Support data literacy initiatives and contribute to organizational change management strategies related to data governance

Your Profile

  • 8+ years of professional experience in data governance, master data management, or enterprise data stewardship, ideally in a regulated industry (e.g., life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare)

  • 6+ years of experience leading distributed teams and managing senior-level stakeholders in complex, matrixed organizations

  • Proven success in developing and scaling enterprise-wide data stewardship and governance programs

  • Strong understanding of master data management principles, governance frameworks, and metadata concepts

  • Excellent working knowledge of ERP systems (preferably SAP) and data management tools

  • Experience with data quality management, cleansing, and analysis tools is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented and structured approach

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in cross-functional and intercultural settings

  • Ability to explain complex topics clearly and influence at all levels of the organization

  • Proactive, solution-focused, and collaborative working style

  • Fluent in English and German (spoken and written)
