Job Description

The Cluster Director of Engineering is a key member of the cluster leadership team, responsible for

overseeing all engineering, maintenance, facilities management, technical services, and asset

protection functions across multiple hotels within the portfolio.

This role combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and project management capabilities to

support hotels with different technical requirements. The Cluster Director of Engineering will play a

critical role throughout the pre-opening, opening, and operational phases, ensuring successful

project handovers, operational readiness, regulatory compliance, maintenance excellence, and longterm

asset preservation.

The successful candidate will lead engineering teams across the cluster, oversee technical operations

and capital projects, and work closely with ownership, consultants, and contractors to ensure the

hotels are delivered, maintained, and operated to the highest standards of safety, reliability,

efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all engineering, maintenance, and facilities management operations across the hotel

cluster, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all assets.

• Develop and execute engineering strategies that support hotel business objectives, brand

requirements, owner priorities, and long-term asset value enhancement.

• Lead the engineering transition from project delivery to hotel operations, including testing &

commissioning, inspections, snagging, defect management, and operational handover.

• Participate in design reviews and technical workshops to ensure projects are delivered in

accordance with operational requirements and engineering best practices.

• Review and validate engineering-related OS&E requirements, maintenance equipment,

workshop tools, spare parts inventories, and procurement plans to ensure operational

readiness and cost effectiveness.

• Prepare, manage, and control Engineering Pre-Opening Budgets (POB), ensuring all

engineering readiness activities are completed within approved budgets and timelines.

• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes for all

building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire & life safety systems, vertical

transportation, kitchen equipment, and utilities infrastructure.

• Oversee capital expenditure projects, asset lifecycle planning, refurbishment works, and

replacement programs across the cluster.

• Drive operational efficiencies through preventive maintenance, energy management

initiatives, contract optimization, and engineering best practices.

Champion sustainability, energy conservation, water management, and ESG initiatives across

all properties.

• Ensure full compliance with all regulatory, environmental, health & safety, and life safety

requirements.

• Establish emergency preparedness plans, crisis response procedures, and business continuity

measures for all hotels.

• Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams through coaching, training,

succession planning, and performance management.

• Establish strong working relationships with ownership, project teams, consultants,

contractors, and local authorities to ensure successful project delivery and ongoing asset

stewardship.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be a highly respected engineering leader with a strong track record of

delivering hotel projects from handover through opening and ongoing operations. They will

combine technical expertise with commercial awareness and strong stakeholder management skills.

You will bring:

• Proven experience leading engineering functions within hotels, hospitality portfolios, mixeduse

developments, or large-scale facilities.

• Significant experience supporting hotel pre-openings, including project handover,

commissioning, snagging, defect management, and opening readiness activities.

• Strong understanding of OS&E validation, engineering procurement, spare parts planning,

and operational readiness requirements.

• Experience preparing and managing Engineering Pre-Opening Budgets (POB) and

engineering operating budgets.

• Demonstrated expertise in facilities management, preventative maintenance, asset lifecycle

management, and capital planning.

• Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing maintenance costs, service contracts,

utility consumption, and CAPEX programs.

• Experience leading sustainability, energy efficiency, and asset optimization initiatives.
• Proven experience managing emergency response, business continuity, and life safety

programmes.

• Technical qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services

Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.

• Experience working in hotel pre-opening environments and managing multiple properties

will be highly advantageous
