About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Energy Sourcing – Australia to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy supply for Yara Pilbara Fertilisers, our world-scale ammonia facility in Western Australia. This role is based in our Perth CBD office and offers a unique opportunity to lead the strategic sourcing of natural gas while driving the transition toward low-carbon energy solutions, including CCS (Carbon Capture & Storage), hydrogen, and renewable electricity.

In this role, you will own the commercial strategy for Yara Pilbara’s energy portfolio, optimising existing natural gas contracts while securing future supply in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

  • Negotiate and manage major agreements for natural gas supply, transport and storage, ensuring cost-effective and secure energy supply.
  • Monitor changes in energy markets, government policy and regulations, and turn these into clear sourcing strategies for the business.
  • Identify and develop opportunities in low-carbon energy, including CCS, hydrogen, renewable electricity and carbon credits, and lead commercial negotiations.
  • Work with internal teams to develop and deliver new business opportunities, partnerships and long-term agreements that support low-carbon projects.
  • Negotiate and manage utilities supply agreements (such as water) to ensure reliable and cost-effective operations.
  • Represent Yara at energy related industry events, conferences and meetings, building relationships and supporting Yara’s position in the market.
  • Work closely with local and international teams to align priorities, manage projects and deliver results.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders through clear communication, a proactive approach and consistent delivery.

About You

You are a commercially astute and strategically minded energy professional who performs effectively in complex and dynamic environments.

You bring:

  • A Master’s degree in economics, finance, engineering, law or similar.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in the energy sector (e.g. sourcing, trading, business development, or operations).
  • Proven experience in negotiating large-scale commercial contracts.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, including natural gas and ideally emerging low-carbon solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives with a structured approach.
  • A collaborative mindset with high ethical standards.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness to travel regularly.
