Job Profile Summary

The Energy Sector team within ING Wholesale Banking is globally responsible for coverage and developing business with wholesale (institutional) clients in the sector through its teams based in APAC, EMEA, and the Americas. The Energy Sector comprises conventional and renewable power generation, transport and storage and covers activities across the oil & gas value chain. Besides traditional sources of energy (electrons and molecules), the ambition is to be at the forefront of emerging zero-carbon energy systems like green molecules, carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) and technologies that provide a solution to the intermittent nature of power generated from solar and wind. This team provides coverage and delivery of financial solutions by way of financing and advisory products to leading players in the energy sector globally.

We are seeking a senior Energy banker in Singapore who would enjoy working in an established and successful global team and drive business growth.

Given the seniority of the role, the individual is expected to have and/or develop senior / C-suite level relationships and the capability and experience to lead multi-product and x-border deal teams.

You are a self-starter and will work closely with colleagues in across APAC and globally. The role requires an experienced individual who can work with little or no supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

  • This is a client facing role with responsibility to originate new business, manage existing and new client relationships. Develop and execute strategic account plans for Energy clients in collaboration with product partners, delivering the bank’s product suite.
  • Origination. Identify, pitch and win new clients and business opportunities in the Energy sector, with focus in the Renewables & Power sub-sector.
  • Relationship management and client delivery. Develop and cultivate senior / C-suite level relationships and have the capability and experience to lead multi-product and x-border deal teams.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of industry trends, banking products, relevant regulations to understand the business of the Bank's clients and energy transition developments.
  • Lead the origination of credit (loans, financial markets, transaction services, debt capital markets) and/or project advisory mandates across Asia Pacific, with focus in the Renewables & Power sub-sector. This includes oversight of the preparation of pitch books and/or financing term sheets.
  • Supervise deal execution including due diligence activities and liaise with various internal and external stakeholders as necessary; guide deal teams, junior staff as necessary.
  • For credit mandates, front and lead the relevant process to ensure client delivery in a reliable and predictable manner.
  • For project advisory mandates, lead the delivery of the mandate and support the deal team as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank’s policies/procedures and regulatory requirements, including Know- Your-Client requirements.

What we're looking for:

To be considered for this role, the applicant would ideally possess the following pre-requisites:

  • Minimum of degree holder preferably in Economics / Mathematics / Sciences / Finance / Accounting / Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant project finance / investment banking / structured finance / accounting / energy industry experience.
  • Experience in cross-selling and delivering banking products across lending, financial markets, DCM, M&A/Project advisory and transaction services.
  • Strong analytical capability with preference for candidates comfortable delivering articulate, compelling presentations to internal and external parties. Strong credit/ risk skills.
  • Self-starter able to work independently and to multi-task. Confident to lead senior dialogues with clients as well as internal stakeholders and to speak in public/conferences.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to excellence and having a “can do” attitude.
  • Team player who can build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.
