Lead Emergency Care Excellence

Valley Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Emergency Care Services to lead the strategic, clinical, and operational performance of our Emergency Department. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, this leadership role is responsible for advancing quality patient care, driving operational excellence, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

As the Director, you will oversee all aspects of Emergency Services, including program development, financial stewardship, quality improvement, staff engagement, patient experience, and emergency preparedness. What You'll Do

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Emergency Care Services.
• Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental goals aligned with organizational priorities.
• Foster a culture focused on patient safety, quality outcomes, and exceptional patient experiences.
• Manage departmental budgets, staffing, productivity, and resource allocation.
• Develop and implement initiatives that improve patient care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with physicians, executive leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve organizational objectives.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation standards, including DNV and California regulatory requirements.
• Lead recruitment, retention, recognition, and professional development initiatives for nursing leadership and staff.
• Oversee quality improvement programs, performance metrics, and patient outcome initiatives.
• Promote evidence-based practice and continuous process improvement throughout the department.
• Ensure staff scheduling, payroll, and operational workflows are managed efficiently.
• Support hospital emergency preparedness and disaster response planning.
• Serve as a mentor and leader, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth across the department.
• Build strong relationships with physicians, hospital leaders, staff, patients, and community stakeholders.

What You Bring

• Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in emergency services or a related acute care specialty adults and peds.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex clinical operations.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and nursing practice requirements.
• Experience with budgeting, financial management, workforce planning, and operational improvement.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or another healthcare-related field.
• Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Los Angeles City Fire Card within 30 days of hire.
• Management of Aggressive Behavior certification within 60 days of hire.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and 2-hour Stroke Certification within 30 days of hire.
• Nursing Administration certification or specialty certification preferred.
• RNC certification in specialty area preferred.
