ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of Digital Workplace is responsible for the strategy, architecture, standards, governance, and operational leadership of Welltower’s Senior Housing workplace technology ecosystem. This role defines and governs the platforms, policies, and standards that enable secure, reliable, and modern digital work experiences across a global hybrid workforce.
The Director will establish enterprise standards across Microsoft 365, endpoint and configuration standards, hardening policies, identity and access management, end-user cybersecurity controls, telephony services, digital signage, print solutions, access control and surveillance solutions and mobile device management. This role partners closely with the rest of the IT Services team, third party service providers and Operating Partners to ensure workplace technology solutions are secure, standardized, scalable, and aligned with business strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital Workplace Strategy & Governance
- Define and execute the enterprise workplace technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Establish and maintain global standards for endpoint configuration, device lifecycle management, and system hardening.
- Govern Microsoft 365 architecture including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, collaboration tools, and productivity services.
- Define configuration baselines, compliance policies, and secure-by-design standards across all end-user platforms.
- Develop and enforce technology standards to ensure consistency across U.S., UK, and Canada operations.
Microsoft 365 & Collaboration Platforms
- Own enterprise Microsoft 365 roadmap, governance, and optimization strategy.
- Oversee tenant configuration, security controls, compliance features, and collaboration enablement.
- Drive adoption, usage optimization, automation, and integration of M365 capabilities.
- Partner with Security to ensure alignment with data protection and regulatory requirements.
Endpoint, Mobile & Configuration Management
- Establish global endpoint standards for laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and specialty workplace devices.
- Oversee endpoint management platforms (e.g., Intune or equivalent) including configuration, compliance, and patch management.
- Define device hardening policies, encryption standards, and secure configuration baselines.
- Lead mobile device management (MDM) strategy including provisioning, lifecycle, and policy enforcement.
Identity, Access & End-User Security
- Own identity and access management (IAM) standards including authentication, authorization, and lifecycle governance.
- Drive implementation and maturity of MFA, conditional access, privileged access controls, and zero-trust principles.
- Oversee end-user cybersecurity technologies including endpoint detection, DLP, email protection, and secure collaboration.
- Partner with Information Security to ensure continuous compliance and risk reduction.
Telephony, Print & Digital Workplace Solutions
- Lead enterprise telephony and unified communications strategy including Teams Voice, Zoom voice or equivalent platforms.
- Establish standards for digital signage platforms across corporate and operating partner environments.
- Oversee enterprise print strategy including managed print services, print security, and optimization initiatives.
- Lead the Engineering and Operations for physical security access control and video surveillance solutions across all Senior Housing properties
- Ensure workplace technology solutions support both corporate and community-based environments.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Define KPIs and service performance metrics for workplace platforms including availability, compliance, and adoption.
- Drive automation, self-service enablement, and operational efficiency improvements.
- Lead technology lifecycle planning, budgeting, and vendor performance management.
- Support acquisitions, new site onboarding, and international expansion from a workplace technology perspective.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and lead a high-performing workplace technology team.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver secure and seamless digital experiences.

TRAVEL
Occasional travel may be required to support regional offices, new acquisitions, operating partners, or key enterprise initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in workplace technology, endpoint management, collaboration platforms, or infrastructure operations.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing technology engineering or operations teams.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 architecture and governance.
- Strong experience with endpoint management, configuration standards, IAM, and security hardening practices.
- Experience managing enterprise telephony, print services, and mobile device ecosystems.
- Demonstrated success building global standards and driving cross-functional alignment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required.
- Microsoft, ITIL, CISSP, or related certifications preferred.
