What you'll be doing
Simplii Financial is a modern, customer-first organization, and the Digital Expansion team is central to delivering on that commitment. As Director, Digital Expansion, you'll shape how strategy translates into action, leading high-impact campaigns, optimizing client journeys, and ensuring every personalized communication is smarter and more effective. You’ll oversee a team of digital practitioners embedded across squads, focusing on their professional growth, capability, and consistency. Your responsibilities include hiring, developing, coaching, and retaining talent at all levels, and setting the standard for excellence in campaign execution, journey orchestration, Martech, and analytics. This is a player-coach role where you balance setting frameworks and expectations with hands-on support and guidance. You’ll collaborate closely with leaders in CX, UX/UI, Growth, Product Management, and Business Analysis to ensure a cohesive operating model.
At Simplii Financial, we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
Team Health and Craft Standards – You establish and evolve Digital Expansion frameworks, operating principles, and ways of working across campaign execution, journey design, Martech operations, and analytics. You define what good and great look like and drive consistency in how your team thinks, communicates, and operates. You act as a steward of quality, judgment, and discipline, actively closing the gap between where the team is and where it needs to be.
People Leadership and Development – You own hiring for Digital Expansion roles, including role design, leveling, interviewing, and bar-setting. You define and maintain the career ladder, role expectations, and promotion criteria. You coach practitioners on campaign strategy, journey orchestration, Martech, and analytics, and you identify skill gaps and design targeted development plans and learning paths that make every person on the team stronger over time.
Martech and Platform Excellence – You bring deep familiarity with our marketing technology stack, including Braze for customer engagement, Adobe Analytics for behavioral measurement, and Adobe Target for experimentation and personalization. You use that knowledge to raise the technical and strategic capability of your team, and you ensure the team is using these platforms to their fullest potential.
Analytics as a Growth Driver – You champion the use of behavioural and digital usage data as a core input to decision-making across product and growth teams. You ensure the analytics practice within your team is producing clear, actionable insight, not just reporting, and that those insights are influencing the work that matters most.
Scope and Accountability – You deploy practitioners into squads and shape how they operate within them, establishing ways of working, decision-making norms, and standards for good practice. Your accountability is for people, craft, standards, and capability. You are a coach, a standard-setter, and a trusted partner to the squads your team serves.
Who you are
You bring deep experience in digital marketing and leadership. You have 8 or more years of experience in digital marketing, campaign execution, marketing technology, or a related discipline, including meaningful experience leading and developing people in an agile or cross-functional environment, ideally within financial services or another regulated industry.
You put the customer first, always. Every campaign, journey, and communication your team produces reaches a real person making real financial decisions. You build a team that never loses sight of that. You push your practitioners to ask whether what they are sending is genuinely useful to the customer receiving it, not just effective for the business sending it. The best personalization is the kind that makes a customer feel understood, not targeted.
You lead through craft. You have done this work at a senior level and you know what excellent looks like. You can coach with specificity, challenge with credibility, and set a standard your team respects because you have earned it.
You build people, not just outputs. Your measure of success is not what shipped on your watch. It is how much better your team is because of your leadership. You invest in the growth of every person on your team, give feedback with honesty and care, and create an environment where practitioners develop faster than they expected to.
You understand the full stack. From campaign strategy to journey orchestration to Martech configuration to analytics reporting, you know how these pieces connect and where they break down. You do not need to be hands-on in every layer, but you understand enough to ask the right questions and recognize strong work.
You operate well in complexity. Your team members are forward-deployed across multiple squads with different priorities and stakeholders. You stay connected, keep context, and find ways to support your people even when the organizational structure is not simple.
You connect work to outcomes. You do not accept effort as a proxy for impact. You push your team to understand the business case for their work, track what is actually moving, and continuously sharpen the connection between what the team does and what Simplii is trying to achieve.
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
