Director, Data Governance & Analytics
Location: Franklin, TN – In Office Only
Reports To: Vice President, AI/ML and Reporting & Analytics
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, now and in the future.
Job Description
OMNIA Partners is seeking a Director, Data Governance & Analytics to lead our Reporting & Analytics team and to build the data governance practice that our analytical assets depend on. This is a working leadership role with two connected halves: bringing structure and trust to how OMNIA defines, owns and maintains its data, and leading the team that turns that data into the reporting the business relies on every day.
You will lead a team of analysts who support enterprise reporting, dashboards and executive scorecards. Alongside that, you will establish the governance foundation the company currently lacks: clear data ownership, agreed metric definitions, documented lineage and measurable data quality. Because you lead the analytics team as well, you are well positioned to make governance stick – the standards you set are the standards your team applies to every dashboard and deliverable.
This role reports to the Vice President who leads AI/ML and Reporting & Analytics and you will have active partnership and support in building the program. We are looking for someone who has led a meaningful governance workstream and is ready to own a broader program. If you have owned data quality, a business glossary, metric definitions or stewardship for a domain and want the scope to build the whole thing – with a team behind you and a leader invested in your success – this is that opportunity.
If you believe governance works only when it makes people's jobs easier and you are as comfortable running a working session with business stewards as you are reviewing a Tableau workbook before it reaches an executive, we encourage you to apply.
Core Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Lead, coach and develop the Reporting & Analytics team. Set clear priorities and quality standards, run steady planning and delivery routines, give direct and useful feedback, develop individual analysts against their goals and recruit well when you have the opportunity. You will have support in this and we expect you to grow as a leader in the role.
Reporting & Business Intelligence Delivery: Own delivery of the enterprise KPI framework and executive scorecards, the Tableau reporting portfolio and self-service reporting capabilities. Drive dashboard certification and clean-up so the reporting estate is trusted, current and appropriately sized, and build the enablement and documentation that help business partners answer their own questions confidently.
Build and Run the Data Governance Practice: Establish OMNIA's data governance program and drive it forward on a practical, phased roadmap agreed with technology leadership. Define the operating model – decision rights, accountabilities and escalation paths – and organize and facilitate the Data Governance working group. Focus on making governance a working routine with visible progress rather than a heavy framework. This is one of the most important dimensions of the role.
Data Ownership & Stewardship: Define the company's core data domains and work with business leaders to secure named data owners and stewards. Onboard the steward network, set clear and realistic expectations for what stewardship involves and keep the group engaged and accountable across Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations and Technology.
Metric Definitions, Semantic Layer & Metadata: Govern how core business metrics are defined, certified and maintained in the Snowflake semantic layer, so the same question returns the same answer everywhere. Establish a clear process for proposing, approving and retiring definitions, and build out the business glossary, data dictionaries and lineage so users can find data, understand it and trace where a number came from.
Data Quality & Data Policy: Define practical data quality measures for the most critical data, with monitoring and transparent reporting on data health. Drive root-cause analysis and lasting fixes with the owners of source systems so issues are resolved upstream rather than patched in reporting. Develop and socialize the data policies and standards that govern classification, access, usage and retention, partnering with Legal and Information Security on privacy and protection.
Stakeholder Partnership & Work Management: Be a responsive, credible partner to business leaders across the organization. Run a clear intake and prioritization process with realistic commitments, transparent status and consistent delivery. Keep the team's backlog healthy in Jira, define KPIs for the function and communicate progress in plain business language to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications and Characteristics for Success
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Analytics, Business Administration or a related field.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics or business intelligence, including at least 2 years leading a team or serving as a team lead, mentor or workstream owner. Formal management experience is preferred, but we will consider a strong senior analyst or lead ready to step into people leadership. Experience in distribution, procurement, group purchasing or a comparable B2B environment is a plus.
Data Governance Experience: Direct experience leading a data governance workstream or owning governance for a data domain – data quality, business glossary, metric definitions, stewardship, or metadata – within an established or emerging program. You should understand how the pieces fit together and be ready to own the whole picture, even if you have not run an enterprise-wide program before. Familiarity with a framework such as DAMA-DMBOK, or exposure to Master Data Management and data catalog tooling, is a plus rather than a requirement.
Technical Skills: Working knowledge of SQL and Snowflake and solid familiarity with Tableau. Exposure to semantic layer tooling and to Salesforce data structures and reporting is valuable. This is not an engineering role, but candidates who have been hands-on analysts and can still review a query or a workbook with real judgment will be most effective here.
Collaboration & Influence: Strong ability to build working relationships and drive adoption with teams that do not report to you. Governance depends on this. The right candidate makes governance feel useful rather than bureaucratic, meets partners where they are and earns cooperation by delivering visible value.
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain data and governance concepts to non-technical colleagues in plain language, tell a straightforward story with data and produce well-organized materials for senior audiences.
Execution & Adaptability: A bias toward practical, visible execution – realistic commitments, steady routines, and consistent follow-through. Comfortable working in an organization where structure is still being built and priorities shift.
Professional Characteristics: Pragmatic, accountable and curious, with strong attention to detail and a genuine service orientation toward the business. Self-directed and dependable, comfortable with ambiguity and motivated to build something that l
